Correct me if I am wrong, but the RFL had tickets on sale for 10 pounds, with a time limit. After that expired, ticket prices would revert to normal. This was common knowledge.
At what stage do the RFL design their ticketing strategy to fit in with tight fisted ex-students who didn't have the foresight to book ahead?
FFS.....RL fans could find fault with a lottery win at times

| I usually knock the RFL but they had the £10 ticket offer with a very clear date of expiry, this was a great idea, i have 8 tickets and taking 4 Union types as it is so cheap.
If the OP can't understand what an expiry date means on a cheap ticket offer then words fail me, stupid thread.

The point is why have an expiry date on the cheap tickets when we are clearly going to struggle to sell out a 90,000 seater stadium? There is absolutley no point whatsoever in having empty seats at wembley on 5th November.
People who arent rugby league fans are also less likely to buy tickets so far in advance but if they saw eng vs aus at wembley in a few weeks for £10 they would be more likely to say go on then and buy tickets.

| The CC final and grand final get great attendances when just 2 domestic teams are involved.
Theres no reason why an england international can't get as good when it has all 14 teams domestic support to draw on.
People just aren't bothered about england and only about their own team.
It's the same in football, the majority of england supporters who go to games aren't fans of top premier league teams.

Thank you. Some posters massively missing the point here. I didn't once say I wanted a £10 ticket or moan about the offer ending.
Thanks to the poster earlier in the thread, I have got myself and a few mates some £45 tickets for £25. Can't argue with that. Still, no good to casual supporters though, as they will be unaware of the code and the only options will be £35+ tickets if they want to sit with friends.

| I really hope we see a good turnout from the Aussie and Kiwi fans. The majority of them live in the south and London so with games being at wembley I'm really hoping to see these guys out in numbers.

Hopefully the RFL will run an exclusive promotion for them in London, offering £20 tickets in the top tier, perhaps.

Its a market which has to be targeted. They have there own media over here, Magazines like TNT and other small newspapers. I would hope the RFL have been using these avenues to get this guys buying tickets.

Can't wait.'"
Exactly. Plenty of people who aren't regular watchers of live rugby league will attend a game like this purely because its seen as a 'big' event - watching international sport at the national stadium.
I got a couple of mates to go watch GB v Aus at the old wembley who had never seen a live RL game before and as far as I know never have since. Even though they didn't understand the rules they were caught up in the excitement of being at a live sporting event, supporting your country in the national stadium.

If the ex-pats are fans of RL, it's likely that they will already be going. If not, then they are no more likely to buy tickets than anyone else in London, and marketing specifically to them is just a complete waste of time and money.

Exactly mate.
I dont expect a 10 quid ticket but I'd like to have the choice of say a £25 ticket behind the posts on the middle or upper tier then having to pay £35 or £45 to sit on the touchline.
I think they should have made the whole stadium available at £10 a ticket up until kick off and I think we'd have got 70,000+. That would have made a statement and helped us get international Rugby League back on track.
Missed opportunity IMO.

It would have made a statement, but what sort of statement? That international rugby league is an inferior product and not worth paying for. Personally I dont think any tickets should have been sold for £10, why should going to watch England and Austrialia cost half as much as going to watch Wakefield? If a reasonable amount of money is spent advertising in London, people will attend the event and be willing to pay to do so
