I enquired about Harlequins, and one of the guys from the RFL, who seemed to be 'in the know' said that it was very unlikely the club would be playing as Harlequins next season.'"
nice to see you are on the ball!

| IMO it is vital for RL to have Quins in super league. I understand where people are coming from regarding attendances and on field performances but you have to look at what they do for the game as a whole. There are now 40,000 kids playing RL in the greater london area, a direct result of the community work the quins club are doing. This can only be good for our game.
That kind of community work has only been happening in the recent past, as those kids grow up hopefully they will provide the London cluns next generation of fans and introduce their children to our sport. This is a 20 year + project.
It's the same reason i'm dissapointed Crusaders pulled out.

Juniors have been playing RL for a long time now it does not appear to have had much of an impact on attendances. Claiming 40k kids play RL as a direct result of Quins is being extremely economical with the truth, the majority would have not come about as a direct result of Quins community work. Bear in mind children play sport at school not out of choice, hence the extremely large drop-off rate once they leave school, most children . In addition to this the 16-19 age group accounts for about 60% of the players actively playing rugby league, those 40k school children (if it is an accurate figure) would be twice the amount of players in GL in all age groups above 19 years.

| its hard to have much sympathy for Wakefield when every day they announce the signing of another below average import that no-one has heard of. what has happened to the youth production of Wakefield (last seen when Gareth Ellis came through the system)?

FFS do some research before you come out with crap. We have a load of english players signed up. The players coming in are replacing the existing quota players (eg Smith, Tony, Henderson etc...) and are therefore an improvement on what we have.

Wildie, Morton, Walshaw, Davy have all been playing in the reserves this year and will all probably play first team next year at some point (3 of that bunch actually played 1st team this year). Annekin and Trout are possiblilties from the reserves too. We have also signed Wilkes and Ellis and are rumoured to be possibly in for Fox and Dowes. We are no worse than many other SL teams.

Not bothering with facts has made your post rather dumb.
