The positive side is that it was a entertaining game in front of passionate fans.
For any team with asperations to play in Super League they must try as hard as possible to get as many fans as they can to showcase games like this. Actually i will expand on that and say that clubs like these 2 who want to play in Super League should make an effort to showcase every game they play, and show the RFL that they would be assets to Super League. Easier said than done i know, but they need to give it a very serious try.'"
Less than 5000 down at the shay for your games. What does that tell you??

Are we going to reverse back and relegate Cas, Hull KR and Widnes as their final 'only' brought that amount? (which weren't FULLY sold out just as point of order that there weren't ticket available).
What a bizzarre thread.
(no digging at the above 3 teams, just amazed at the eness of the point trying to be made)'"
Cas v Rovers in 2005 was a complete sell out weeks in advance. (Mainly due to Cas before anyone starts with the "hilarious" HKR millions jokes).
The capacity was only 9,500 back then, it's over 16,000 now.

No it wasn't. It may have been an absolute sell out in the Cas/KR ends, but the RFL were still selling tickets.
The capacity yesterday was, and always was going to be whether Wigan and Saints played there, 9,000.

No, the ground was full to capacity in 2005, you can repeat your claim as frequently as you like but the facts are clear. If the capacity was reduced to 9,000 yesterday (I have no knowledge of this), could you explain why?

Wasnt there a temporary stand there (just over 5,000 in capacity) which was being taken down in order to build a permanent stand, thus meaning the capacity yesterday would have been around 9,000?

| I though only poor Crusaders ever had their crowds scrutinised.
FYI, ever since it's creation an 8,500ish crowd has been a pretty consistent attendance. Interestingly though the year Huddersfield won it, when there were only 4,352, the lowest evr. What short memories people have.
The crowds suggest Bloomfield Road is the right size, the right location to create the light hearted party atmosphere, and that people shouldn't start turning their noses up at a decent sized crowd just because they think their e doesn't smell.

| In Leigh's 2005 Super League season, we had an average attendance well in excess of the numbers we took to Blackpool yesterday.
Why? A lot of people are only attracted to top flight sport. They probably feel that only games against the best teams matter. I don't agree, but it's quite simply the case that these people are not dedicated / crazy enough to be watching lower league rugby.

| Leigh and Halifax have met twice so far this season and averaged 2,500 in both those fixtures.
Yesterday they got 8,820 fans on.
If so it makes it the 2nd highest attendance in the Championship cups history
Considering the difficulties clubs in the Championships currently have getting people though the gate I think that is a fantastic effort to be just 180 people short of capacity by two part time teams playing a match on Live TV.
However, surely the main talking point is the winning try with 41 seconds remaining rather than how many fans attended

Interestingly I note Huddersfield going about crowds ....
What short memories here is some reminders ....
2002 - 4k to watch the same final we watched yesterday
2009 - biggest club game in the world challenge cup final at the new Wembley stadium wasn't there thousands of empty seats??
