Looking at the England and Knights squad, I think we have a number of three quarters who have the talent to become genuinely world class (if they are not there already)
For me, the young players I hope will come to the fore and make the England backline a real threat are Jones-Bishop, Welham, Arundel, Broughton, Charnley, McGilvray and Watkins
Add to this the more established players Briscoe and Sam Tomkins (who should be in the first group as a future talent but are established internationals), Shenton, Clubb, Bridge, Fox, Hall and Cudjoe
The potential backline below is full of talent
Sam Tomkins
Briscoe
Arundel
Watkins
McGilvray
That may not be the back line for England this year as Bridge and Shenton must be in line for the centre spots but it looks good for the future

| Yeaman is a very good english centre and although a little disrespectful to my club if he'd have played for Saints, Leeds or Wigan over the years he would imo have scored shed loads of tries and proved to other supporters of the game what a good player he is. He hasn't always got the service he requires at Hull due to the fact that we haven't had 2 half backs since 2006.

| Martin Gleeson is a complete different class to Yeaman as FC fans will soon workout for themselves. I rate Shenton and Bridge also above Yeaman and would also play Joel Tomkins there before him even though he has'nt completely adjusted to the centre position as he has the potential to be imo the best English centre by some distance. For the Exiles i'd go with ...
S Tomkins
Watkins
Shenton
J Tomkins
Briscoe
I dont think Gleeson will be playing again for England even though for me he's the best English centre we have. I rate Watkins and he looks a classy player but is'nt experienced enough or composed to play at centre yet he gets exposed way to often at centre.

| Why do people keep picking Watkins?! What has he actually done other than play for Leeds?

I've just watched his four try haul against Wakefield on Super League TV
Two well taken finishes and two very good kick collections for tries (an area that we always seem to struggle in against Australia and New Zealand)
I think Watkins is a real talent and will do very well on the international scene

Some of those have potential, but compare them to some of the Aussie youngsters and it may as well be another sport they are playing. Ben Barba for example is a long way away from International selection but is streets ahead of anything we have.

| As an aside other than been a good kicker what has Foster done to warrant the praise heaped on him?

Some of the handling that Foster has displayed in finishing his tries this season has been exceptional
If the try he scored against Leeds was in the NRL, people would have said it was a different class to anything we have here (much as you have posted above regarding Ben Barba)

It was a good finish I agree, but not as difficult a skill as the sky commentators would have you believe. Other than that I've never seen him do anything that's made me think, yeah this kids good.

I think Foster suffers from a lack of size and strength to be honest (add to that, he isn’t a real flyer) – he has very good skills and as you say a good goal kicking record
I’m actually pleased that a player has done well on the wing who isn’t a monster as it shows that good skills will get you into pro Rugby League but I don’t think he will crack the international scene as you have to have both the skills and the physical game to excel

8 tries in 11 games this year, 32 games over 4 seasons, slight of hand untouched by any british centre of his age group. Big, strong, fast, good step, good work rate. Still only 19 years old.
