Quote: Leaguefan "PLAYERS learn more and want to do more?

Whichever way you want to spin it it, it's down to the players.

If they don't want to, they won't and the best coach in the world will not make them.'"

Now do they players learn more on their own? Or because the coach is a better teacher? Or teachers them MORE things than the other coach?

There is some responsibility on the players obviously, yes. But only individually. If the entire team are doing poor, it's the responsibility of the coach. Players are responsible for themselves, not the team.

And your last line is also rubbish. If they don't want to, it's up to the coach to find out why they don't want to and correct the issue.

You talk about players "not wanting to perform", but you haven't given a reason why. Are you just suggesting that they can't be bothered?

I do not all togther blame Rich Agar, the problem is higher then him and in a lot of ways I feel quite sorry for him

Withot mentioning any names we have one person who dominaes the whole club and any coach has to be to an approved poodle standard. We have a procession of coaches, assistant coaches, conditioners and other assorted odds and sods leave the club in a hurry in recent years. Many of them have been at the club for years and had done notihing more then say, NO to the person concerned. John Kear is when this all started and since his "departure" things gave been on a downaward spiral.

I do not see any massive board changes in the offing and if this continues for any length of time people will drift away and break the habit. Once people break the habit ( I have already with the Friday night switch) then getting them back becomes very difficult and in the recession hit Britain this is doubly harder. Unless steps are taken high up to tackle the problem it will simply continue with the next person silly enought to take the job of coach on, neither Nobby or Macca are that stupid.

I can see by the end of the season crowds dwindling to 5k and pass sales for next season looking dire, quite simply they are killing the club. Its taken the faithful a long time to catch on, but they have finally caught up to reality and the clubs spin machine has been well and truly sussed out.

I find it staggering that Agar is still in charge tbf.

Hull have everything going for them off the pitch - good steady crowds/ground/history/income/youth set up, all in a City where RL has it's highest profile its had in quite a while. Whilst on the pitch it seems they've almost settled for second best, so long as the off the pitch performance remains strong.

I'm not going to attend a home game until he's gone, I'll still go to away games though, our problem is the board are quick to remind of us of our grade A licence, one of a few SL teams making a profit, big shirts sales and big sponsorship deals etc. All of this is in spite of three poor seasons, I just feel the board don't feel they have to strive for a successful team on the field, as the revenue will keep coming in.

After the very harsh sackings of Kear (Challenge cup win, first play off win in the Sl era in his first and only full season) and Sharpe (Grand Final and then a fourth place finish) we were all underwhelmed at the appointment of Agar but he was young British and is a nice bloke, the fans gave him a chance, since his appointment though we have performed poorly throughout,.

In 2008 we were poor, although that was blamed on Sharps previous decisions, fair enough really he needed the benefit of the doubt. In 2009 we were simply terrible, awful in every way, the board said it wasn't Agars team and he needed time to re build, again fair enough although Kear and Sharp were not allowed this time. After big recruitment in 2010 we saw a slight improvement, although we were still average at best, we lost every game we needed to win when it mattered, the board told us we were only 80 mins away from a fourth place finish and with a steady side 2011 we would really kick on and challenge again. After a poor start the board are still saying he will turn it around, bearing in mind he has had three years, two assistants have left under him, brought in numerous players and even spent transfer fees he has failed miserably, being a big family friend of Kath Hetherington makes him untouchable though.

On a more positive note Richard Agar has just finished in the top ten of a poll conducted on the HulL KR forum.

He just keeps on achieving.

That's what angers us, the board have said they will not sack Agar, results and performances however bad are not relevant, Kath would lose too much face sacking her friend, the only way they will be forced into sacking him is if they think attendences will drop low enough, and with a quite a few people maybe willing to boycott hopefully the message might get through.

Which is why I aren't going anymore until he's gone. As a club, the fans do have some say. But the club officials are ignoring the fans strong feelings here. It's OK for them, they don't have to pay their own money to watch this dross every week.

I cannot continue to support the direction of this club under Agar. He's had long enough. I'm fed up of this jobs for boys mentality of employing people at the club. It's getting us nowhere. A major overhaul is needed, or this club is going to go into the ground.

Quote: The Devil's Advocate "Hull FC should be up there with the big boys, their ground is the best in the game, their fan base is superb, however, once again, it looks like another season is ebbing away.

As an outsider looking in, there appears to be a fundamental problem with the BOD, it’s they who employ the Coach & players.

Some of their recruitment baffles me. Why go for a player that’s near the end of a glittering career, done it all, with the injuries finally catching up with him, when I’m sure they could have picked up a class Scrum Half from either SL or the NRL for similar money?

They should be looking at the Wigan model, superb local production line, with class quota players.

It must be very frustrating watching a club with so much potential, failing so often.

But, there is a silver lining, at least they don’t have the tribulations of being a Wakey fan.'"

They were poor last year so its no surprise that they are also poor this year. Renting a football stadium and being based in a city (and so having a big catchment area to attract fans from) doesnt automatically mean they are a big club

No, but because of Hulls history, our average attendences, big revenue from shirt sales and merchandise, big sponsorship deal, good facilities, good youth set up, making a self sufficent profit, all of these despite having a rival in the city it's safe to say only an idiot would say it isn't a big club, as a general set up off the field I'd say only bettered by Leeds and Wigan.

There are shortcomings in the squad, but there are also some very good players, the biggest reason why we are not competing with the big boys is Agar in my opinion, that and maybe a few questionable recruitment decisions (Long being one) and although Agar may not be fully responsible in that department he will have an input, it would take a good argument to say that everything isn't set up for Hull to challenge for trophies.

They were inconsistent last year, not necessarily poor (we were one game off the top four, so can't have been that bad!).

And if you think that people think Hull are a big club because of the stadium (which doesn't belong to the football club) and because they're based in a city, then you're either an idiot or purposely trying to talk down the size of the club because you're envious.
