Are you suggesting that the Premier League and Super League are in similar states? One is massively popular across the entire country with several teams who regularly get over 40,000 crowds and massive TV deals.
One is popular across the M62 with only 4 teams who can average over 10,000, several teams in financial disarray with little hope for improvement and an average TV deal.
The Premier League can quite easily sustain itself with a poor national side. Super League needs a national side to spread exposure of the sport across the country and increase both crowds and TV deals.

fine forget the international game. Hull KR are currently removing the opportunity for young British RL players to get the schooling they need to make a career out of the game. They are failling to offer the opportunities that befit an SL club. They are failling in their role as part of the top tier of RL pyramid.

| I think HKR should be allowed to sign another 3 overseas players, then they can play a non british side in superleague week in week out.

Mason's already said in the Aus press that the Tongan passport is to enable a further overseas signing for Hull KR, so that would be 11

| Lets make it simple
If you are not born within the UK, then you are classed as an overseas player. Each team can have 5 of these players
We have a 'live' salary cap. All players within the squad need to be paid within this 'live' salary cap. All teams must stick to this salary cap and not use overseas accounts, new houses, new cars, wife working at the club shop, wife working anywhere in the club, kids private schooling paid or any other blatant or subtle breaking of this cap. If this cap is broken in anyway it is a clear minimum 16 point deduction.
If you are sent off for indiscipline. A set tariff with regards to the offence is in place. No appealling over this tariff is allowed and the punishment is to be adhered to.
If you play an unregistered player. Either points deduction or thrown out of the cup competition. No appeal
If referee underpeforms constantly, then errrrrrrrr they are simply allowed to continue??
Until red hall gets a grip on these issues and probably several others, our wonderful game will be looked at in bemusement by both supporters and by outsiders!

| It would seem I was wrong in my original post and this does allow Mason to be completely exempt from the overseas allowance, so I apologise. However, I find it disgraceful if so.

No we don't. It's that sort of mentality that's traditionally hurt Rugby League. What we need is a strong grass roots and domestic competition. As well as completely new people running the game.
That League exists, let alone has popularity, is amazing. Considering the complete lack of marketing and inept running of the game.

Simple - but illegal. Fed/non-fed is the only way in which the RFL can put a de facto quota on antipodeans with EU passports or 'Kolpaks'. They need that legal fig-leaf.
The market is going to change when the NRL gets its new TV deal most people seem to believe. Incentives are often more powerful than rules. More players who are now in the Championship, or would be released into it from SL academies, will then get a shot at SL. More British SL players will be attracted to the NRL. SL will be a bit weaker, England might be a bit better if enough go down under.

Still think it should be where you first played as a professional, the 'outside' the UK criteria could stop players playing here because their parents were abroad serving in the forces or working for a company abroad. It would be a bit unfair to prevent a lad being classed as a British player at 18 because his dad was working in Abu Dhabi at the time of his birth, he may have been living in the UK for 17 of those years and never been to another RL playing country.
