| Each to their own I suppose. I thought it was a terrible match with shocking defence on display.
And to think that is the premier club rugby union competition in the world.

The difference is the Super 14 rights will be cheap due to no one competing with Sky to purchase the rights. Setanta competed with Sky for the NRL rights thus bumping the price up and now Sky aren't bothered. Purchasing the NRL coverage is not going to bring subscribers into Sky because most RL fans will have Sky anyway for the Super League.
I've said before any tv deal that gets struck here will be the NRL going out to do a deal with potential broadcasters rather than potential broadcasters approaching the NRL.

| Spanish freeview has a Guinness Premiership highlights programme, a world rugby union programme and they cover the Spanish league.
Sportsmania (like a Spanish ESPN) show the six nations games the day after and every so often have Super 14 games on.

| If its like the crap layonathon every week that melbourne got away with tonight they can keep their rights. Its not the RL that we recognise over here. I suspect Silverwood passed the audition for a stint in the NRL though

I can see the ARL recommending him for a flight to Aus for the four nations

| It starts on the 12th March and yet no one seems to know what is happening re TV.
Anyone got an answer or is it 2GB on the radio or the mini screen stuff if Bigpond let it come free courtesy of the NRL!!!
I cannot understand broadcasters not seeing there is a demand for this product.

2GB are covering it as are ABC and other radio stations. I shall have all the links in the audio links bit on my rlwww.rugbyleagueontv.co.ukrl page from next week.
As for TV I did email them on Monday and put the specific question about whether it'll be shown free by Telstra (assuming no one picks it up) but I didn't get a reply this time. Previously they replied almost straight away. Not sure what to read into that.

| Just recieved an email which says.......
Quote: "We are close to agreeing a new tv deal and should have more details by next week. '"
It also adds....
Quote: "Alternatively, it is likely overseas fans will have the option of watching live games via a pay-per-view option on
Sounds like good news all round then although still no indication on who the potential broadcaster is. I would suspect ESPN at such a late stage.
And who knows maybe ITV 4 could be an option. A wild one maybe but they've recently bought rights to screen 59 Indian Premier League Cricket matches.

| I find it funny that Leeds were beaten at their own game and haven't stopped whinging since.
The Rhinos and St Helens took pride in bullying sides into submission and beating them in the much talked about 'arm wrestle' but when they are undone when the tactic is employed against them they whinge at the ref and anybody else who is willing to listen. It is not pretty to watch, no, but it was effective for the Storm and is what Leeds and Saints have done in defence for a few years now and gained success off the back of it, albeit not to the same extent, but they still did it and did it well. I know these teams have a great attacking game but all success is built on a good defence.
For what it is worth I don't want it getting to that extent over here but it is something that needs to be sorted prior to any world cup or world club challenge as we almost always lose out in this area.
