| Quote: hkrovers "over the last few seasons rovers have
totally dug up and laid the pitch including new drainage
replaced the floodlights
put in a 1200 seated stand to the north
extended the east stand
extended and refurb the restaurant
built a ticket office/club shop on site
opened a club shop off site
set up a training ground (now to be moved to behind east stand)
installing new turnstiles (this season)
another extension to the east stand (this season)
and like yourselves lots of money spent on health and safety
don't think it is in the millions but this on top of having to assemble a squad fit for super league and a total revamp of the youth structure, it is easy to see were the money has gone .rovers were in a very tricky situation when it come to franchises. if they had gone down instead of cas i do not think they they would have been handed one so had to invest heavily . the rfl have put this burden on all clubs yourselves included .you could spend a lot of money on planning for a new stadium and still lose out next time round'"
wakey have no chance next time barring divine intervention.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

While I am a fan of HKR's achievements since they joined SL and have on many occaisions congratulated them , the problems highlighted in this thread do however tell us the price for this success , it will have to be dealt with at some stage , hopefully they will find the answer to their problems , as hopefully will all clubs

Thick, ignorant and a liar, what a brilliant self recommendation. I shouldn't bite but seeing as your peddling slander I'd like you to substanciate the clap trap you have just posted.
1: Wakefield never lied to anyone and that is slander you have posted. At the time of franchise it is on public record that Wakefield Council were going to build a stadium at Thornes park. It later fell through due to many factors not least a gross under estimate of cost funding by the council. At no point did Wakefield fail in their part.
It is also worth noting for the hard of thinking a point the ignorant posters seems not to grasp which is this. WAKEFIELD got a franchise for 3 years because BV met minimum standards (JUST). We did not get it because of a proposed new stadium but because as a club we met C status and thus gained a place. The proposed new stdium did not give us anymore franchise points as far as I'm aware, it was just a part of our future planning in the same way a new stand at HKR will be in theirs.
Where the new stadium comes into play in for the next franchise where the criteria will be much stricter and Wakey along with a number of other clubs won't get a place if they don't upgrade or move by 2012.
There is no lie other than your own. Please visit www.swag-online.co.uk/
for this full history and current status of Wakefields new stadium bid.
2: What alarming levels have crowds fallen too, please supply data and comparisons with other teams.
3: Please provide evidence of said £15,000,000 received from the RFL. By this I mean factual evidence rather than just typing random figures. If you are refering to SKY monies please stop now before you are made to look even dumber, if that were possible.
Now go have an afternoon nap dally, Xmas has obviously not gone to plan.

I assume he is reffering to £1million a year that Wakey has had in SKY payments for the last 15 years.

HKR's tenure in the NL's had a detrimental effect on their ability to produce SL quality junior players , something that will start to happen shortly

You don't expect accurate facts and Dally on the same post do you - he is the biggest idiot on this site. I am amazed he ventures outside of the NRL board - at least on there his stupidity is off the radar of most posters on here

You missed Wilkin from HKR to Saints
So considering McNally hasn't proven himself yet we have 4 from how many and how long ?
Depending how long you want to go back we have Higham and Donlan from Leigh and also Blackwood from Leigh
But not many really is it , Non SL clubs just dont have the ' pull ' to get the best juniors , once in SL then clubs will improve

It wasn't that the sky money was witheld in our first year in SL, more like the rest of the clubs weren't prepared to restructure the distribution of funding to the clubs with the end result that Wakefield got nothing.
Added to that, there have been occasional handouts to other SL clubs in the region of £1m a time when the Hudds/Sheff & Hull/Gateshead mergers fell apart.
If anything, Wakefield's continued existence (as a club not just in SL) is more in spite of the efforts of the RFL etc rather than because of any help they've given.
