| Quote: General Zod. "In modern RL, the back-three i.e. 2 wingers and the full-back have a crucial role to play in terms of returning the ball quickly to enable good "exit sets" and although some my analyse the game and say Briscoe "didn't do anything wrong" he didn't return the ball quick enough which resulted in an accumulation of pressure which is why the Aussie game plan was built around kicking behind him.
In the second-half when Briscoe was taken off it removed this problem which is why the exit sets were more effective and the game changed complexion so it was 100% the right decision to take him off.
'"
thats complete crap. the game changed in the second half because australia stopped playing not because tom briscoe's slow (which by the way he isn't, he was probably the fastest player in the england team yesterday). australia landing every kick in or around the in goal was also not tom briscoe's fault as you seem to be suggesting.
EDIT: i've just realised who the poster was that i responded to, which explains the complete crap that i felt obliged to respond to.

| Briscoe did seem to be a very unfortunate scapegoat. Then again the team played a lot better in the 2nd half (even allowing for Aussies easing up a bit).
I reckon he could of just as easily taken Smith off or McGuire to be replaced by Eastmond and probably got as good a result. He could also have switched Shenton to the right centre as he's much stronger defensively than Smith and made sure a back rower eg Ellis was defending out there.
Tony Smith showed a worrying lack of proactivity to not make any change until half time despite Australia making brake after brake down the same channel.

| It doesn't matter who you played on that side in the first half, when you have Mcguire & Smith inside of you defending you are always going to be left wide open.
Leave Smith on the wing next week, play Briscoe in centre and fook off Mcguire and give Eastmond a start.

The bottom line is at this level, you can't expect to beat Australia with this type of weakness and I'm afraid yesterday showed Tom Briscoe doesn't have the athletic ability so was always going to be a target.'"
Is it true that Tom Briscoe recently gave your wife the first orgasm she's ever experienced?

I thought he was left out to dry by Smith and Mc Guire as do a few other hull fans, obviously the rovers fans disagree, but i was just interested in getting some other opinions.'"

It's not a case of him "deserving" anything.
He's simply not up to this standard of RL as an athlete.

| Did anyone notice Briscoe being Sick after he'd chased Inglis all that way back??
The lad looked completely out on his feet after that and never really looked comfortable for the rest of the half.
I really don't think he was taken off for any other reason.

| Briscoe seemed like he was glued to the touchline in the first half seemed to be a bit of a rabbit in the headlights. Our right handside defense was crap because of Briscoe's poor decsion making, Smith and McGuire's soft tackling and the fact JP had gone walk about (he's nowhere near atheletic enough to play in the back row any more)
