How many times is this now with Widnes fans? Perhaps banning Widnes from taking part in the Challenge Cup next year might be the severe kick up the that those fans need. Yes they don't represent ALL, but every since they've come back to SL they've brought trouble.

Plenty wearing shirts, including one idiot intimidating a steward while the BBC post match pitch interviews were taking place. Many of them ain't wearing any shirt, obviously enjoying the er, Leigh heat wave?
Calls to ban them from the comp are well over the top. What the RFL need to consider is security. Stewards are not equipped to handle crowd disturbances. For high profile games they need to spend more money and have a significant Police presence. Should Widnes get fined? Maybe the practical solution is make their club pay for policing for any future high profile games. If Warrington finish 5th and Widnes 8th the play off game would be the first time to exercise this. |

Daily Fail and accuracy aren't exactly things you hear together though, forthem to get something as simple as a result right is expecting too much of them!
They also tried making it sound like a mass brawl involving both sets of fans in large numbers. |

| RFL Statement-
Quote: "Following the incident involving some spectators at the end of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup semi-final at Leigh Sports Village between Castleford Tigers and Widnes Vikings, the RFL will await reports from the stadium, the police and the two clubs before deciding what action to take.
The behaviour of the vast majority of fans was exemplary and the incident was not what is expected from Rugby League supporters. This should not detract from two very successful semi-finals.

If I remember correctly, the fine was for Cas not taking sufficient action after the incident and not the incident itself. |
