Leeds vs Bradford / Wakefield vs Castleford

Castleford vs Huddersfield / Leeds vs Wakefield
Leeds vs Huddersfield / Bradford vs Wakefield
Quins vs Crusaders
Quins vs Catalans
Crusaders vs Catalans
Hull FC vs Hull KR (well, nothing else left)
Basically mix them up. Whoever is left from the expansion clubs ans West Yorkshire clubs to play each other. Guaranteed interest in the fixtures then with some variety.'"
Leeds-Hull FC?

It's a RL showpiece event. Just read the negative reponses above and elsewhere, yet again the RFL/SL go all out to embarass the sport. Still there should be plenty of reduced price tickets for sale just prior to the event when they realise the attendance is going to drop again for the 3rd year running.

Yes. But most of these comments are coming from posters who've slagged off every Magic Weekend from the beginning: when it was derbies they were moaning about one more derby at a neutral venue, when they wanted to see derbies at their grounds; now its a draw, they're moaning about the fixtures and how derbies would be better. When it was in Cardiff they moaned about Cardiff, when it moved to Edinburgh they moaned about Edinburgh and wanted it moved back to Cardiff
While there are things that can be done to improve Magic Weekend, some people are simply 'agin it' and will be convinced its a failure no matter what happens.

| Magic weekend should be the last 16 of the challenge cup.
If the top 7 along with the winners on the championship are given a bye to this stage you can make the draw now with 8 qualifier balls. So we know half the teams that are there.
Leeds
St Helens
Huddersfield
Hull KR
Wakefield
Wigan
Castleford
Barrow
All games have a extra competitive edge, it drops a game from the season for all the sl teams and 2 more for the top 7, potential for terrestrial and sky broadcast, a realistic showpiece for NL clubs to get to ( at least 2 and more possible) etc etc.
Ticks all the boxes for me.

That's true.
(I hope you're not including me in that bracket though, as I've been to every one and loved every one, but preferred the derby format).

Circumstances this season mean I wouldn't have been going anyway but if I was swaying on going or not a fixture list like that wouldn't encourage me to go and if I did go I think I would spend more time watching games in the pub/exploring the city than in the ground itself!!

I think its got to be an attractive set of fixtures to get people to commit, Edinburgh is not the cheapest of places to go, especially once the warmer weather kicks in. Like most people I would love to be able to got to every game KR play, but I have to make choices based on affordability and with our Cats trip at the end of March (a week before Easter) and a trips to Quins the weekend after Easter and a family holiday to pay for, I have to drop something and I think its likely to be Edinburgh.
The RFL seem to think fans will dip into their pockets no matter what, but with the recession and reduncancies I think they may be in for a shock next season. They put the fans last as always.

Not everyone...i admit to slagging it off when it started but i went to the 2nd one in cardiff and had a bloody good w/end....the only problem then was overkill on derbies...now we have a expanded league,we could have a extra one and the derbys can be back.

I'm struggling to see how one extra game will make three derbies a season any more palatable.
