| I'm not sure where this figure of £3mil has come from but Bradford were bringing in £4.5m and were losing money. Clubs need far higher revenue than £3m. Which is why the 50% of income salary cap rule was scrapped.

I really can't see why you can't sustain a team on 3mill with a 1.6mill salary cap unless your paying a significant rental on your stadium. If Bradford were spending 2.9mill on things after salary cap then I'd love to know what?

I think you're drastically underestimating how much it costs to run a decent club. I don't think £3m is anywhere near enough for a SL club. I think it needs to be around £6m.
You mean like executives, staff, groundskeepers, coaching staff, analysts, stewarding, security staff, community work, stadium costs to name just a few.
Leeds' wage costs were £4.9m in the last set of accounts.
£3m of income is nowhere near enough.

If you ran a club with just one team, you wouldn't have an SL licence. - there's a lot more to Super League club than just the first team squad

London have an average attendance of 2,900
(IL stated these were worth about a tenner in ticket revenue each, with Residual sales are normally another tenner per fan per game.)
David Hughes ploughs in 1.5 million
SKY TV money is about 1.2 mill IIRC
There's about 3.5 million in income.....the club breaks even as it is, because DH writes off his debt. 3.5 should be enough, but I reckon 4.5 would be the ideal turnover for a medium size club.

- RFL does something to keep Bradford going to the end of the season and get time for proper new ownership bids" RFL slammed for bending over backwards to help out 'favourite' club Bradford, but wouldn't do the same for Cas/Wakey/OtherClubILike
The fickleness of rugby league fans, hey?

This is simple, an evenhanded approach for all.
RFL applauded for being reasonable and transparent - sadly this just isnt/ hasn't been the case.
The level of support being given to the Bulls is off the scale and the presence of a franchising system, where one of the key criteria is financial suitability, merely compounds the situation.
One could argue that their willingness to bend the rules makes them flexible, instead their willingness to change their stance when the wind direction changes merely causes upset and
resentment.

| This only becomes an issue if the Bulls are still owned by Super League Europe for any considerable time after season's end. Hopefully, they will have found an independent party to purchase them by that point, presumably with the understanding that they will be playing Championship rugby.

Are you assuming all RL fans speak with one voice? Are they a collective? Are they Borg?
How about this - a flagship SL club with a grade B license shouldn't need RFL intervention; it's a contradiction in terms. A tin-pot struggling club with no money (Blackpool) perhaps should have been afforded more help [iif the RFL wanted to spread the game's reach[/i.
I guess people are saying that some clubs should be helped whereas as others shouldn't. That's not fickle, it's opinion.

Having turned down the ABC offer because they asked for a guarantee that they would be in SL next year, the SL clubs are now buying the assets of the Bulls themselves.
Unless they are paying at least what the ABC offer was then, should they decide to grant the Bulls a SL place next year and then sell the club to new owners, they stand the risk of being accused of prejudicing the creditors of the old Bulls company to benefit themselves.
Risky business this insolvency lark.....

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| He's half right - the only way Bradford will be playing SL next year is if a new owner (not SLE) is prepared to do address the old debts, as the RFL has made clear.

London get advice from the RFL..........Bradford get cold hard cash......there is a subtle difference as well you know.
