Tonight we have witnessed a travesty, a dark night for the game of rugby league.

What was supposed to be a game to showcase the sport to the (few) people from ireland who turned up.

Instead we've been ''treated'' to a massacre. A railroad from start to finish. Orchestrated by (we'll use an imaginary person) Bill Pentham.

Bill has been a disgrace to the sport tonight. Ruining what could have beena decent game. The plucky ireland have been penalised out of the game.

If I had the power i'd nail the victicious character of ''Bill'' to the wall.

That piece of sh*t would never referee a game again and his career would be over.

Gutless worm.

I can't believe that people think that this a surprise, Phil Bent is a terrible ref, one of the worst refs I have seen since I have been watching RL

yes Australia were always going to win the game comfortably, but the irish were given absolutely no chance tonight.
im not sure they were doing all that wrong as to be on the receiving end of a colossal penalty count, they certainly did no worse than the aussies, who were allowed to mess around and hold on for a lot longer than the irish.
totally ruined the game as a contest, even though it probably wasn't much of one on paper.

Irish very brave against greater numbers in defence, not able to offer anything in attack (which unfortunately the latter is what I will remember from them in this comp).

I've tweeted a few 'irate declarations' tonight, but felt i needed to come on here to fully vent my anger, tonight's performance from Bentham was unbelievably bad...at one point he shouted at the Australians , stop moving forward on your knees,(at the PTB) , didn't award a penalty and they scored...absolute incompetence from the man...I'm sure at one point i saw him poking his head out of Tim Sheen's @r5e

why would they?

Me thinks Phil Bentham once got ditched by an Irish lass....he hated them tonight.
Ireland couldn't hold an OZ player down for 3 seconds !

he also said the same about irish players creeping forward

if this had been a super league game and ireland were say..hudds, london, widnes etc they would be crucified for slowing the game down and not letting the better team play at a faster pace..for me bentham did well not to sin bin the irish number 9, yes australia did slow the game down at the play the ball but because of the amount of time with the ball australia didnt do it anywhere near as much as the irish so the penalty count would be one sided

They did it all the time against England and never got penalised by Perenara.

The refs for international games are a joke.

The top 3 get everything then when in come to England vs oz, oz get every 50:50 call

So frustrating because nothing will be done
