How many times has a ref or Cummings admitted that a performance wasn’t to the level required? It’s as if they don’t care imo and are above the average fans who watch the game?'"
Well, off the top of my head I can think of the MM match where Leeds won the match from off-side.
Refs are not the same thing as players - a good analogy would be teachers and pupils. Teachers make mistakes but the biggest effect on the classroom is the mistakes that pupils make. At times it is best in the lesson for teachers to give a warning to pupils, not a sanction, despite the rules of the school calling on them to do so. It IS important that teachers admitt their mistakes from time to time, but most of the time they cannot afford to do so, as this erodes their authority and leads to excessive questioning of their decisions.
I think it would be very interesting to have a match write-up by the ref afterwards, explaining their decisions, it would be very educational for all us viewers. But this would not be for the purpose of auditing referee performance but for educating the viewers.

| I have been watching rugby league for over 50 years both Hull teams and in australia I am not a rovers supporter but a rugby league supporter but I can honestly say that sundays performance from Mr Thaler was the worst refereeing performance I have ever seen. Not only him but his 2 assistants or lines men in old money where abismal. When is the rugby football league going to accept that some of our officials are down right useless. Forward passes are the main bone of contention with me every team in the league do it and get away with it. I can't believe that the league dont know it is happenning it is killing the game I can understand why Justin Morgan went off things that are happenning now are costing coaches there jobs. It is ok saying you must respect referees and officials but surely they must earn the respect if no one criticises them they must think they can walk on water all I can say is GET A GRIP Mr Lewis before the game collapses around you.

| I too think the Refereeing standards have gone down - BUT without them there will be no game !
we've all been guilty of laying into a ref over the years but what if everytime a ref copped abuse on the scale that Mr Thaler did from Morgan on Monday he decided to quit the game ?
We would find ourselves in a situation where no one would want to take up the whistle anymore, therefore no more games.
i personally wouldnt want to do it so i do applaud these guys for having the nerve and bottle to go out there every week, knowing that he's gonna get abuse hurled at him for everything he doesnt get right.
Would you want to go to work knowing that you were going to get called every name under the sun and have people calling you names because you didnt do your job 100% correctly every day ?
Every coach after every game can probably find something wrong in the Ref's performance but Justin Morgan went too far - it was more or less a personal attack on him rather than his work and we dont need that in our game.
Until enough people say "yeah am gonna be a Ref" we are stuck with them, and so be it if this great game is to continue in the future.

| How about this - Thaler didn't do his job properly and is held accountable. In this logic then Morgan has not done his job properly and is in breach of a number of rules governing his behaviour and should also be held accountable...
I would suggest a sideline ban from any match where Thaler officiates.

Really?
Wow.
Just out of interest, what were No. 1 and No. 2 in your comprehensive logs, prior to this fateful day?

| Quote: BBC Report "The Rugby Football League has charged Hull KR coach Justin Morgan over comments he made about referee Ben Thaler on Easter Monday.
Morgan said Thaler's performance in the Super League defeat to Huddersfield was "substandard" and suggested he should "spend some time learning the rules."
The Rovers coach will face charges of misconduct and breaching the RFL's Respect policy.

The charge is breaching rules that club officials should not criticise
(a) the character of a referee or
(b) the manner in which he has controlled a game.
Good. I hope he is taught a lesson.

HULL KINGSTON ROVERS is my religion, Craven Park is my church and Jordan Abdull is my God: |
|
| £4000 Fine, £2000 of which is suspended until the end of the season
Morgan handed £4,000 fine for referee comments
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan has been fined £4,000 after he was found guilty by an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal of misconduct and breaching the RFL’s RESPECT policy.
Morgan must pay half of the fine within the next 28 days whilst the remaining £2,000 will be suspended until the end of the season and will only be paid if he is convicted of a similar offence.
Should Morgan fail to pay the fine, which will go towards the RFL's RESPECT campaign, within 28 days then he will be suspended. He will then only be allowed back to work once it is paid.
The fine follows comments made by Morgan about match official Ben Thaler on Easter Monday at the conclusion of the match between Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants.
The RFL Operational Rules state that it is an offence for any Club official to criticise the character or manner in which a referee has controlled a game in which a Club has taken part in.
At the hearing Jim Spencer, Chairman of the RFL Operational Rules Tribunal, said: "Everybody in the game is entitled to respect."
