I think as this thread is proving, Saints were never onto a winner on this one. I think the “I’m sick of talking about Ben Barba” from the commentary team summed it up.'"
Just watched the replay this afternoon the Marsh incident on Morgan should have been a penalty try. The right knee of Marsh goes straight into the neck and lower jaw of Morgan, hope the disciplinary pick it up, but it will probably end up as a caution.

So by your reasoning Sam Wilde should have also been given a penalty Try as he was tackled around the head by Barba in the act of going in for the try and would of scored if not for Barba taking his head off and using Wildes neck to turn him onto his back.
I also watched the replay and there was nothing in it from Marsh so stop trying to justify a terrible call from the video ref in favour of your team.

Conveniently ignored by all barring one or two of us neutrals, thought that was a shocking decision, not mentioned by anyone in the commentary, no mention by the officials.
We talk about player welfare and head high tackles yet the tackling round the neck in the game is getting more prevalent, it's worse than a single punch IMHO (which more often misses the target), that Goodwin one last week in the CC was despicable, comes around the back of the player, grabs him around the neck and then throws him to the ground by the neck, could have damaged his spine so easily and the ref did absolutely nothing and the spineless disciplinary saw nothing wrong in it. I used to love (legally) hurting my opponent in the tackle BITD but the way the game has gone with the upper body grabbing and using necks as a lever it's sickening.
For the most part up top tackling doesn't even stop the offload which is why tackling in the traditional manner was supposedly moved away from, yet in actual fact it's still proven to be more effective at stopping/reducing the chances of an offload AND importantly not allowing a forward particularly to keep driving another 5-10m with players hanging on. It's hilarious (not) to watch a big guy keep making metres until someone actually tackles him around the legs, 4 players to do what one-two could have done and still the ball is often offloaded leaving defences 2-3 players short.
Anyway, in short, Widnes got f####d over.

Goodwin did nothing of the sort, you are blatantly fabricating in your own head.

Well no, watch the replay again first point of contact was NOT head or neck, yes there was some leverage involved in getting him on his back. But surely Barba’s priority was to stop the ball from being grounded, I don’t think for a second his priority or intention was to strangle or rip someone’s head off.
If you think the tackle was illegal or dangerous then this will be picked up by the disciplinary today.

Suggest you actually watch what happened, Goodwin grabs him around the throat (from behind which in itself should be a yellow at least and then launches him to the ground still with his grasp around the players neck which is serious foul play and should have been a red and a 3-4 match ban.

The contact is over the none ball carrying shoulder, and he uses the shoulder to rotate around the y-axis (aka spin him round to face his own line, back to the ground). Rotation using the next causes rotation around the x-axis, with the head moving slower than the torso/ legs. I guess the most part of this is “Barba is terrible in defence!” crew need to prove that it wasn’t good work by Barba to stop the grounding on this one...
I understand the confusion, Taia was penalised for a similar tackle earlier - but it was that that was the wrong decision not the not penalising Barba.

Was voted best tackle of the game by the rugby journals.
.
Sam Wilde did look dazed about it all, probably didn’t know his x-axis from his y- axis once Barba had finished with him.

Seeing as you are quite vocal about “foul play” I wonder what your opinion is of Scott Taylor going in to the back of a KR player (I think it was Moss) with his knees when he is on the floor? Last time I checked this wasn’t a legal thing to do so surely he should be cited/banned too? Not to mention the players of both Hull clubs grabbing each other around the head/neck area during their handbags at the end of the game - or is this different if it’s done by a player in black and white shirts?
Or is it just the fact you like to have a bit of a moan about all things saints generally, and are that short sighted you can’t believe that Hull players could ever do anything wrong?

you think so you're not sure? I don't condone knees on a player, haven't seen it but Taylor doesn't cowardly attack players around the neck. But hen you would know about knees on a prone player, Walmsley last year which was late AND deliberate, did you condemn/moan about that?
The grabs face to face are nothing like the examples I mentioned.
I'll point out obvious and/or overt foul play, Watts headbutt I condemned roundly and condemned Radford for laughing it off in the post match interview. I condemned Matongo for upping matters at the end of the KR game, i condemned Turgut last year for his grubby shyster elbow on a prone player, i condemned Radford for his pathetic slap on Bailey 5-6 years ago, I'll condemn druggies like Barba, ZH, Chase and others.
What about you, you seemingly like to have a "moan" but not if its your own team.

I just find your obsession with criticising saints and our players to be a bit sad tbh
So you can call Barba making a tackle and trying to prevent a try scoring opportunity “a cowardly attack” yet diving knees first into the back of an opponent who is laid on the floor isn’t?
And if you are referring to the Walmsley incident against Hull at the KC last year then I suggest you watch the game back and see what’s kelly does to Percival when he scores as there isn’t much difference in it.
My point is not a moan but to point out that players from all teams commit offences in games but your “condemning” of them for certain things is a bit sad. I have no gripes about accepting when a player has done something wrong regardless of who he plays for, but wouldn’t dream of clutching at straws to try and make a deal out of a tackle there wasn’t anything in.
If I wanted to be as petty as you, I could have picked on all the “incidents” Hull players could have been “condemned” for in their last 2 games alone but unfortunately I don’t have a spare couple of days to make that list. Just pointing that Hull are far from squeaky clean and there are a number of things your players have done in their previous 2 matches far worse than the Barba tackle so wondering why you chose to make such a deal out of that incident?
Also interesting that when you were listing the druggies you condemn, Albert Kelly’s name wasn’t on that list...or is a guy who had involvement in an anti-doping breach in the NRL (pretty much the reason he ended up over here) and chooses to spend his time these days drunk in McDonalds offending women a man of high standards in you eyes?

To add to the point on Kelly, it quite obviously was not just Alcohol.. His jaw looks responsible for breaking Phil Clarke`s swingometer.
