| resetting the points is ridiculous. you are in effect creating a separate competition. only way to do this would be to give a trophy out for league winners after the 1st 23 games then start again with the top 8. ain't gonna happen (even with the RFL)

Few years back but can vaguely remember it,either that or it was a dream.

| The Big Four are so far ahead now that it is hard to see any of them being replaced by a club that finishes 5th, 6th, 7th, or 8th.
On another matter I find it strange that the voters from this forum have placed Catalans as the 4th most likely to end up at Old Trafford, despite the fact that Catalans are way ahead of Wigan on points for and against. Moreover Catalans still have a game against Wigan to play at Perpignan on July 2nd.

Totally agree with this. If you reset the points then teams that have grafted hard and are at the top are essentially punished for their hard work while teams at the bottom of the 8 will essentially be given a helping hand to compete with the top teams. Awarding the shield after the 23 is what I would propose so that teams wouldn't take their foot off the gas after they are secure in the 8.

That would be the Premiership you're thinking of. Although the format changed a couple of times over the years, this was just an end of season playoff with the only prize being a separate trophy. The League champions were the team that finished top after the regular season in those days.

What I hadn't realised was that from 1907 to 1973, the championship was decided by a top-4 playoff - just like we have now, albeit with the extra nuance of the split after 23 games.

I challenge you to find a quote on this forum from a Hull fan stating what you have just suggested.

| IIRC Lee Radford said something has to be done because teams in 7th & 8th had nothing to play for after the split. He was not exactly suggesting the points be reset but I wonder if he is still of the same opinion?

One way of doing it would be make the top team after the regular rounds champions whilst the super 8s is turned into a different cup competition.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| The odd thing, and of course i am speaking from the position of being a Wigan fan cue boo's and hisses, is this.......
Hull, Warrington and Cats are all playing some good rugby.... By popular consent, we are playing really badly.... But somehow, we are not off the pace, except in points difference... End of season will be very interesting.

Hull's record vs other 3 top 4 teams
vs Catalan 2-0
vs Wigan 1-1 (but Hull win on points aggregate)
vs Warrington 1-0 up with one to play
Warrington's record
vs Catalan 1-0 up with 1 to play
vs Wigan 2-0
vs Hull 1-0 down with 1 to play
Wigan's record
vs Hull 1-1
vs Warrington 0-2
vs Catalan 1-0 up with 1 to play
Catalan have lost every game against these opponents
Do you still think it's strange?

| I'm going for a Hull F.C. v Warrington final.
If Cas could somehow get into the top four they would be my dark horses.
As for nine people voting for Wakefield - Really .
