Yes they are all Aussies but while the England RL team is considering players like Willie Manu and Mauri Faasavalu (spell check!) what does it matter, all we are doing is getting players over here so that in a few years time the England team has more players to select from

I can see why, I mean with 8 million people to entice into the ground I don't see how it is so hard! You should be hiring Twickers or Wembley and I have no doubt you and you alone could do that!

Has he ever been convicted of an offence? Serious question, as if he is trying to enter the UK on a Tongan passport that is new.....he may be being investigated on his Australian/New Zealand background.

No he hasn't ever been convicted of a crime, he has been fined for urinating in a public place and he has opened his mouth to the press which has sometimes got him in bother with his previous clubs or the NRL but he has never been convicted.

The reason he said he would be here for Christmas was because HKR were expecting to get Ben Galea off the quota which would have allowed Willie to come over as a quota player and he would have been here by now. When he said he was getting a flight on the 7th I am not sure he said it was destined for the UK did he?? (serious question).

HKR have said nothing in an official capacity until Neil Hudgell was quoted as saying Willie would be here by the end of the month, as this is the only official statement I am inclined to believe it.

Then I can't think of any reason for him not being able to join up with the rest of the squad now......seems strange that a big name player like Mason will only roll into town a week or so before the season starts

Joel Clinton had problems last year but managed to get here for round 4, he had a good season but I hope he can have a better one with a full off season.

Willie is/was a quality player and if reports from his last clubs' supporters are anything to go by then he's still been performing really well. If this is the case then I don't see any problem with him coming straight into the squad. Anyone with over 20 Australian caps should be able to slot in at any time you would imagine?

I wonder if he's keeping himself match fit whilst in Tonga, NZ or Australia or wherever he is?

Keeping himself as match fit as any HKR players have up to now! He might not get any pre-season games but as a forward I am sure he can just build up his game time gradually while interchanging with players like Galea and Newton who can both do 80mins.

sorry....but maybe 2 runs where he half breaks a tackle per game and 15 tackles a game are not performing really well.....if he was performing really well he would have been snapped up by another NRL team. He may recapture his form of 3 years ago when he arrives in East Hull, but if he plays like last season in the NRL.......you've got an expensive luxury that will go through the motions IMO.

Not what fans who saw him perform week in week out have said. I don't know how much NRL action you watch and can pretty honestly say I haven't seen any since it went off Sky but I am going to believe people who actually see him playing.

I think he was offered a few contacts by NRL teams, but in the press he made it sound like he was just going to go to whoever offered him the greatest salary. It seems like that club is Hull KR.

Cowboys offered him 1 year......er...that's it. The Newcastle Knoughts thought about a contract....but thought better because of his off field antics. Same for Manly Melbourne......they looked at him, weighed up their options and went elsewhere. If he was any good, the cowboys would have offered 2 years minimum and the other 3 would have been in like flynn.
I am not saying he isn't any good........and I have already said the change of climate may do him anf HKA a load of good, but as it is, looking at him last year he was a player in decline.

last year he played quite well and started to look more like the Mason of doggie days,even being tipped as an outside chance at SOO according to some media, it was the 2 previous years at the Roosters where he was 5h1thouse! Then again so was O'Meley but didn't stop him being signed to SL.

As was Jonathan Thurston then according to Cowboys fans. The posts I saw from them gave the impression that Mason was one of a handful of players who could hold his head high last season.

Mason did have a good season in a poor side.

If used correctly he'll be a very good addition to hkr and sl.

I'm hoping he gets the sledging going in the press.
