| I thought the choices of players had something to do with their exploits at Wembley. Certainly Offiah and Murphy made an impact there.
I remember Fox scoring at Wembley but did he make as much of an impact there as the others?

Winning a Lance Todd Trophy and scoring a record number of points in a final would suggest he made an impact.

You get all offended when someone calls you a loser and then you call someone a 'knobrot'.
Nobody needs to show you up as a loser, you do that yourself.

| Quote: vastman "You forgot something - throughout most of his career it was only 3 points for a try! That really puts it into perspective when compared to Sinfield and others.
No one will beat what he did, they may be better players in some respects but no one will get those figures imo.
Him not being on is criminal but public vote have a habit of producing results like we got. It’s pure demographics and the passage of time.
That said the Murphy one baffles me - dirty player and not an especially gracefull man off the field either.'"
And nothing whatsoever to do with how good a player Neil was. Not only a good player, but he gave full value. He played through three decades. At the end of his career in 1978, I watched him play for Bradford at Odsal. I was on the Rooley Avenue terrace. Second half, every time Bradford got a play the ball near the posts, there was Neil at AHB. And on about four occasions he passed to a receiver on his left. On the fifth occasion he dummied left, and literally walked in under the sticks. Class. He began his career as a goal kicking centre, who could score tries and put his winger in for tries. And then he moved into the pack, when being a RL forward meant not just running with the ball, but scrummaging for it too. And he shone there. His career record alone perhaps shouldn't qualify him to be on the plinth, but his feats at the stadium. Lance Todd winner and record points scorer, appeared in three finals surely do. Letting fans vote on something like this reflects badly on the game, especially when someone like Murphy can be honoured in such a way.

11 Wembley appearances, 9 wins
Played the 1990 final with a broken hand, then fractured his eye socket and cheekbone in the 9th minute and played the whole game. He should have his own statue.

Perhaps the fact that he's now connected with Union, plus he's in that select band of players sent off at Wembley had something to do with it. Great player though.

| As for his record he actually scored more.
He spent an off season in New Zealand once but they didnt count the NZ league in those days so the stats are missed.

Precisely. He was playing in an era of one team domination of a weak sport. Neil Fox played in an era when the game was stronger, more conpetitivr and a lot tougher. Edwards would have struggled to be noticed in the late 50s and early 60s
