if you were picking a team of the most consistently excellent players over the last five years, they'd all be in it. It's nothing short of a disgrace that they've never been awarded MoS. Particularly wrong being Sinfield for Farrell in 05, and the procession of beaten St Helens players in 07/08/09.'"
But we're not, so they don't deserve to be MOS.
They are great players in part of an excellent team. But individually, none of them are the best in the league. 3 of them will struggle to get into the England squad this year.

| 1. Tomkins
2. Roby
3. Westwood
Roby is Mr Consistent, and consistent to a very high level.
Westwood shows great impact and determination week in week out.
But Tomkins has pretty much win games on his own at times this year. He does things that no one else can do. He is by far the best player and the biggest star in SL.

Do you mean the Saints players than finished top of the league (and therefore were the most consistent in 2007 & 2008? MoS is awarded before the GF for how well they have played over the 27 rounds so that is maybe why Leeds players dont get much of a look in! Although I am sure you will be suggesting Ryan Bailey should win it next!!
As for this season, Roby has been massive for Saints (once again) and must be in with a shout...I dread to think where we would be without him at times this year. Tomkins has the X factor, and whilst he isnt consistently good for 80 mins, he chimes into a game and does things that no other player could probably do. And agree with Westwood - he has been outstanding this year every time I have seen him. Any one of them I wouldnt argue with

| In an uneven season, St’s won hubcap by a grand total of 1 point in 2007 and 1 point in 2008.
Im not sure that should have much of an effect on anything, never mind judging a players consistency.

My point was that, regardless of whether it was won by 1 or 100 points, Saints still topped the table 2005 - 2008 and therefore were the most consistent team over that period...therefore not sure what the guy talking about "beaten Saints players pinching MoS" was on about!

| If Tomkins doesn't receive the award I'll be embarrassed for his fellow professionals.

It depends who the nominees are. If three backs are picked, then I agree. However, whilst most fans and pundits will pick the most exciting player, the players imo would lean towards the enforcers.

And as I said, there was 1 point covering Leeds and St’s in 2007 and 2008 in an uneven season. A difference so small, and an uneven season, means that (between those two clubs) the League Table isn’t a measure of consistency.

You reckon - Hock would be shown up - Roby would be ordinary - Luke Burgess is cannon fodder and keeps his brother company, surely you'd worked that ot.

| Lets hope McNamara has nothing to do with the decision otherwise it'll be a Leeds player seeing as he's picked 9 of them in his England squad named today.

His injury picked up in the cup final will probably rule Ben Westwood out of the running as he wont be playing for a few weeks (maybe for the rest of the season) therefore unable to "make on impact" on the voters.

| ^ A lot of the players have already voted and some (Jamie Peacock for one) have announced their selections on Twitter.
