That's an interesting post, and I understand your point.
But there was nothing to stop TWP playing North Americans, I think Eichner and Ngwati were signed year one and of course the USA fielded USARL players in the world cup whom they could have signed. And so there was no danger of North American TWP players being "battered" by opponents like Coventry, Gloucester, Oxford, Hemel and south wales. There was however an opportunity for North American players to try out as professionals in the third tier of the game here.
That process may have seen them do OK as a Championship one club and in time seen them do OK as a Championship club. Y'know "growth and development"
But the Billionaire Argyle never joined the game here to develop players or give North Americans a chance, he just thought if he had $$Billions he could just buy his way to the top. Sure he could outdo League one, then the Championship (only just second time of trying) before appearing in Superleague when he was stuck as regards the salary cap and he used the only card he had which was the marquee signing.
Played six lost six was enough for the multi $Billionaire, and look no further than that for the REAL reason he's pulled the plug....
He's now having a laugh trying to pretend the club was short of money due to Covid and not getting central funding (which is loose change to him). His zoom meeting with the SL bosses was a "poor show" as reported by Martyn Sadler, who also reports Argyle won't be the owner for much longer.
TotalRL.com now understands TotalTWPfarce.com. Welcome to the real world Mr. Sadler.... This was never "expansion"

| Interesting to see that TRL forum is clinging to hopes on a pole they took on the future of Toronto staying in SL, bit futile as it won't be the fans that decide

Toronto's English players were not a problem, the Aussie, Kiwi & South Sea Islanders are !

I get the feeling that TRL do these polls on behalf of & to report back to RFL so that the RFL can gauge the likely response to their next crazy decision. TRL appear to be in bed with the RFL & only like positive spin *a bit like Momentum & Labour*.

What has Lech Wailesa got too do with RL?
You should ask Lee Addison. He's a good lad.

| Indeed. Quite a shoddy operation to start with. No one’s learnt from Crusaders.

[i"Wolfpack owner David Argyle is cash-strapped"[/i Is Total rubbish.com
He's not a $Millionaire mate, he is a $Billionaire which means he has 1,000 $Million at least. He can release shares in any investments tomorrow and get the cash the day after. Don't much care for this so called journalism, that just gives people the chance to blatantly bend the truth.
Truth is Rugby Union headed him off by setting up Toronto Arrows, whilst Perez failed to find him any NA players not a cent from any NATV deal.
Maybe it suits the RL press to pretend he just ran out of money.

It's easy to go on Wikipedia and bring up the MLR page.
There you will find a map of North America in which the MLR appears to be a USA competition but hang on?
There is ONE rugby Union club in Canada in the same city as the Rugby League club was (but is no more) Co-incidence?
Wilby's ultra phoney New York RL are still talking big even though New York Rugby Union are established in the MLR now and getting on with it.
So guess where the next Canadian MLR team will most likely be placed when Ottawa Aces show any signs of being real themselves?
It's OK all this stuff about growing Rugby in North America, but Union are already doing it pretty much big time (compared to Wilby and Perez) and successfully too.
Martin Sadler said he hoped RL could keep a "toehold" in north America. No chance when Ottawa RUFC stamp on Perez's toes.

| Seems to have gone unnoticed SBW was made available to Roosters 2 week before Toronto withdrew from SL as the agent and Chairmen knew Toronto never intended to honour fixtures and payments. Makes the presentation and demands to be funded last week a charade and the RFL must know it's lie after lie?

Oh absolutely......
There appears to be no way the RFL or Superleague want to enter into a slanging match in public so a really cheesed off Argylle can spout all kinds of stuff. That is probably the right stance to take despite it allowing Argyle to sound off.
But the thing was that Superleague didn't want them, but used them to do a deal with Rimmer to remove Middle eights and MPG, in return for TWP going up. Once TWP were up they signed SBW to try to give the game here something big in the absence of developing a new player pool in NA. It didn't really ingratiate him with the SL bosses and when TWP lost six in a row Argylle must have heard the SL bosses laughing.........
Meanwhile the opportunity to invest in Melbourne Storm came along, home sweet home for Argyle. So he's quit from where he's not wanted and has just been getting what revenge he can. Eventually he'll shut up and go
