| Quote: Call Me God "47,000 people watched the All Blacks defeat Australia in Japan in October......7,000 more than witnessed Australia defeat England in the RLWC final in 2017 in Brisbane.........read that back again and let it sink in. Brisbane is supposedly a RL hotbed, but there were 12,000 empty seats at the RLWC Final, featuring the home side.....whilst 47,000 curious Japanese were prepared to watch a neutral test.
You may not like Union, or One Direction, but your attempt to belittle the bigger and more popular code just underlines your insecurity and uneasiness when it's compared to League.
For a game that we often describe as The Greatest, it is strange that we struggle to attract fans, sponsors and TV viewers whilst "one direction/Union" don't have that problem
If my pointing out that there are other markers of worth than commercial success bothers you so much, might I suggest it's you who is insecure.
I'm perfectly happy enjoying a minority sport, music, art or anything else for that matter and make my judgement(s) of worth based on criteria other than how many 'units' it can sell.
As for your last point; the same could be said for Mozart and Van Gough, both of whom died as paupers and often struggled for patronage against their, shall we say, lesser (as ultimately determined by history) contemporaries. Using that as a marker of worth is sad in the extreme. I guess you think The Kardashians is the epitome of quality TV too. After all, it's very popular, you know!
P. S. Sorry if I upset you dissing Harry and the boys. I'll go and listen to their outstanding cover of 'One Way Or Another' and chastise myself for not realising it must be a work of art as it sold well. ![Rolling Eyes icon_rolleyes.gif](images/smilies//icon_rolleyes.gif)

I'm from Bramley so I've a Yorkshire accent too. That poet is made in a laboratory from heavily distilled Barnsley I'd say. Do you genuinely talk like that?

Utterly laughable to sugest Union is a more skillfull code, and as for it being loved the world over, yes it has a better spread than League, but it is still only a niche market in a few pockets around the world, ice hockey, field hockey, basketball, cricket, baseball, all have a bigger world wide presence, ice hockey second only to football across central europe scandinavia and eastern europe. Only in New zealand is union the number one sport, an insignificant island of 10 million people’s just off Antarctica.

I disagree. Some of the skills. Now on show particularly among the backs is a lot closer to RL than it was 10 years ago let alone 20 years ago.
Their short kicking game has got better , they are more able to break down defences. The massive number of ex league players now coaching RU is leading to massive improvements. In another few years there will not be as much difference.
If they dropped down to 13 players the handling skills would be as good as in RL even quicker.
Not necessarily at club level but at the highest club level and international level the passing moves are a lot slicker than it was.
You can stick your head in the sand like a lot of diehard rl fans but you are wrong

Apart from maybe on the tv, when was the last time you saw a decent union game leeBron old boy, it certainly wasn't in the north west of England where you supposedly live.

| Im secretly hoping that the likes of Farrell and Wane etc are still being paid by the RL and that they are undercover agents tasked with evolving RU into RL. So far so good, we just need to get down to 13 a side.

If your from Bramley you'll have a Leeds accent which is distinguishable from a proper Yorkshire accent ![Wink icon_wink.gif](images/smilies//icon_wink.gif) as for snowie, it's hard to describe his accent as he mumbles quite a lot ![Very Happy icon_biggrin.gif](images/smilies//icon_biggrin.gif)

My heads not in the sand, i watched some of the Autumn games, and while i will agree the standard from 10-15 years ago has improved, its stilk nowhere near RL standard, maybe league one or top end national conferenc in terms of handling passing etc.
All those league coaches have imroved it, but does that not prove the point, if union so much on par then why do they still raid league.

| Tommy Makinson night make the England union bench. The England union backline would walk into the league back line. Even the second string might do. The gulf in class is silly

| I do say so because it’s easy to see. However, until we can sort out the grass roots it won’t be reversed. There are what, 4 division in the north west counties of which half the clubs are “A” teams. That’s in the supposed hot bed of rugby league. There are about 8 divisions in union in Lancashire alone. There must be 100 times more union clubs in alone
