Agreed
If that is the best that a VR can manage, we should do without them completely.
The on field decision process just doesn't work.

| The only thing to come out of this game for first time watchers is that the Cas pitch is much smaller than all pitches. Jeeez. How many times did they have to mention this. Oh and also that VR decision hahahahaha. Crazy.

| A great, gritty performance from Cas - full credit to them; in a season of injury excuses, they rolled their sleeves up and found a way to win, despite being as badly hit by injuries as many other teams.
That 'try' though - what a joke.

| Cas deserved it. Salford looked lethargic and our forwards were dominated, leaving our backs to make hard yards instead of breaking lines. Halfbacks didn't gel today, and enthusiasm levels looked pretty poor. Cas played well, hard, and deserved their victory.
As for that video ref decision, probably the worst one I've ever seen.

| The VR decision was correct !
The ref awarded the try and from all the angles that the VR ref was shown at that time there was nothing definitive to suggest whether the ball was grounded or not. Hence they have to go with the on field decision.
Subsequently a different angle much later on showed the ball clearly wasn't grounded, but that wasn't shown at the time the VR had to make the call.

| I was in favour of the ref making a call like the NRL but unlike our friends down under we don't have the multi screen bunker for every game, staffed by well trained experts. I would be happy to go without VR as long as the TV company stop showing stop frame shots after the descision is made (only real time replays) it might then take away all this unnessasary agro?

I agree the later footage showed that the ball wasn't grounded (and surely it had to be asked why it wasn't shown at the time)
I would have to disagree that the footage Richard Silverwood did have wasn't conclusive though....
A poor decision in my opinion...

The footage shown later was merely a zoomed in shot of what Silverwood saw first time around and u didn't need the zoomed in shot to see he never grounded it

I think they were bargain bucket vouchers for KFC. Salford fans in a desperate attempt to woo him back into "liking" them again.

Wrong. The video showed the ball OFF the floor at all times.

Which angle did it show that the ball had touched the ground, never mind grounded?
There was absolutely no evidence to even suggest a try, Silverwood just went with the on field call of try, even though he could clearly see, like everyone else there was no evidence at all.
He should have said to Child, "sorry James, i can't see where the ball has even got anywhere near the ground so i'm gonna have to over turn your decision"
If he is unable to make that call then the VR needs to be scrapped.

| The point is that the onfield descision was TRY.
The VR then had to provide conclusive evidence not to give the try. From all the shots at the time nothing was conclusive to show whether the ball was or wasn't grounded, hence the VR has to go with the onfield decision.
You can debate whether or not the precedence of onfield vs VR calls should be changed , but not that the VR should have disallowed a try when he could'nt tell either way if it had been grounded or not.

| It was absolutely conclusive that Solomona didn't ground the ball. I've no idea what you (and Silverwood) were watching.
