| Quote: Pablo-13 "Has there been any discussion in France about their domestic season moving to summer?
I'd like to see Elite 1 pegged to the Championship (or even Championship 1 to start if standards aren't high enough). To begin, have the champions play-off at the end of the season. While keeping costs low, other points of playing contact during the season could be added, for example a Franco-British NRC with local pools. If the French clubs improve in time, start to look at making Elite 1 a conference of Super League with dovetailed play-offs. This last bit would take some time to happen and the French would likely have to have their own expansion agenda.
In the years that this takes to happen, Catalans and Toulouse would continue with what they are doing.'"
I was just going to say something similar. Shift French leagues to summer, restructure NRC to include French pools based on locality, include more Elite 1 clubs into CC, integrate Elite 1 in with Championship (so there is an English and French conference), Championship play offs at end of season include top four/eight from each conference.
That all makes more sense to me; move the whole French infrastructure along, not just one club at a time. Keep them playing the local matches, but give more clubs more access to British teams.

We're usually on the Metro to be honest straight from Jean Jaures to Barriere de Paris, far less hassle

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

I don't think there is any reason they couldn't attract crowds like Catalans.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

How do you suggest all this is financed ? , considering Toulouse are getting smaller crowds now than they did in Elite 1 , Toulouse's visits to britain quite often are low interest wise with the Championship fans , the cost of having a single club in the Championship is around £250,000 per season

Well, I haven't done any in depth research, but I'm guessing that if Anglo-French matches only take place in the NRC knock outs, the Championship play offs and a hand full of CC matches it won't cost as much as funding one French club in the Championsip with little in the way of returns. The geographic spread of a combined Championship should also create a better portfolio to approach sponsors with.

quite right but the CC marketing needs to be improved to lure the sponsors looking for european coverage.

It's not brill...it's much better than that! Would be great if TO could do some advertising on there as it has always been busy when I've been on it (which is pretty regularly when I've over there, to be honest, as I'm a lazy get).

yes it is a good service and soon there will be a direct link from the city centre to the airport which will make life even easier.
Speaking of the airport, apparently there is now advertising for TO - haven't seen it for myself but if it's true then it's a step in the right direction.Advertising on the Metro is an obvious advance but I can't see Carlos paying out that sort of dosh just yet especially when he can't manage to find a few more euros to keep the likes of Nathan Wynn & Mathieu Griffi for example !

Have you been watching ' The Office ' ? , this is the 2 nd tier of a minority sport , we dont pull in sponsors interested in selling Internationally , how many SL sponsors are what you could describe ' blue chip multinationals ' ?
There is no interest in the Championships [ British fans ] in playing Toulouse apart from the few dozen who go for a booze up [ and they are diminishing just as they did for the Catalans in SL ] and the home games are also the least attended , and it is plain the French fans are not interested in seeing Leigh , Fev and York either , it was a bad idea to start with and it isn't working

Kid "Wow"
You " Yeah , but it's going to die . So , everything and everyone you know will die ! "
Kid "Even my doggie"
You " I don't know why you even got one , no one cares "
