I don't think it's a great opportunity - at least not for a team like Salford with other more pressing issues to address.
With the players they have lost it's going to be tough to be competitive, and that's unfortunately not going to help their crowds/fanbase.

| I feel sorry for Salford, last year was great opportunity for them really progress as a club. They got the new stadium, and with the likes of Williams, Broughton, Moon Smith and Holdsforth they had one of the most exciting back lines in the comp. Sadly they haven't managed to secure decent investment to maintain their progress.

| Another SL club reliant on Mr Invisible to hit projections - never!
All the best to the Solly fans.

Fair play to him.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Martin Gleeson as Moon's replacement...

Certainly for the fans. It really hasn't gone as well as hoped and I of one don't really know why - other than you still have to work at it new stadium or not and perhaps Salford neglected that?

No matter what happens at Salford, Phil Veivers has been superb. We had a similar situation with Daniel Holdsworth, and he handled it in the same way. He certainly seems to have no patience with players who get mard heads on.

I think it boils down to a lack of funds really. The move to a rented stadium meant some of the club's income streams were lost, and the fans didn't turn up in sufficient numbers to replace that lost income.
That said, I'm not entirely sure that the loss of some of the players that have gone this past few months has been down to lack of funds. With the exception of Holdsworth and Moon, I think the other players the club have released would still have been released even if the club was funded by Croesus, while Holdsworth and Moon seem to have been shown the door by Phil Veivers.

| According the MEN, Francis Lee looks like he could be interested in taking over after the dust has settled. If he does, surely it would be good for Salford.

I know we're going of topic a bit but, how have the Bull's been raided.
Despite owing a fortune to their creditors, they have managed to keep the vast majority of their squad in tact.

I can see the headline To Clean Up The ....",
But no. The article just states that he'd like to see a successful Salford, not that he'd like to invest.
In any event, the MEN is as reliable as a fishnet condom when it comes to rugby, so take it with a pinch of salt.

I think Franny Lee is a man of leisure, he sold up his ' toilet paper business ' in the 80's for 8 million then 'invested' in Man City in the mid 90's becoming chairman , it didn't work out and he sold his City Shares first to David Bernstein and the remainder to the Malaysian Premier who took over City in 2007.
don't think he's daft enough to throw his money away in retirement propping us up ,it's all but bankrupted our present Chairman keeping us going over the past 30 years .

| Regarding Salford's squad for next year - who is likely to be the half-backs ? I heard they were looking at John fron Wakey.

This idea of "asset stripping" is a nonsense.
Joel Moon has his own career and his own lifestyle to think about. If I were a professional sportsman in my early-mid 20s, I'd probably think that Leeds was a better place to further my career than Salford was as well.
Vievers can bang on about "wanting to play for the club" and good luck to him, but there are clubs in this league who have players on their payroll purely and simply because those players couldn't get contracts or first-team places elsewhere - and Salford are one of those.
Yes, that sounds pretty harsh but it's the nature of professional sport in Europe. If you don't like it, go and watch the NFL.
