I remember watching one of these matches in Bradford. The Union half was really boring as all they did was keep it tight around the rucks and mauls. The League half was better, but the lack of defense by the union side in sliding etc was just woeful and it was probably the most boring match i've ever watched.

The worst part was at the end hearing some local union fans go " that rugby league is so boring. There's no skill level involved at all." I usually keep my mouth shut but had to say something.. When i did all he moaned about was scrums and lineouts.

As has been said already.. League took union rules and improved.

Just this season the Super 14 ( premier competition of union ) introduced a new rule. When someone gets tackled, the tackler has to roll away from the tackle to speed up the rucks.. Sounds very familiar!

That would only be true if union was exactly the same game now as it was then. It isn't. The rules of union have also changed, but on a different path.
