There was a lad in the gym in a Wire shirt, so being an RL fan, I felt compelled to congratulate him. Turns out he'd only got into the game a couple of months ago and was amazed by the amount of opposition shirts there and lack of trouble in the crowd.

Makes you very proud to be a part of a great sport.

Remember chatting to a mounted policeman at a test match at O/T....he said he loved rugby matches as they didnt do anything as they knew we dont cause no trouble....said if it was a footy match they would have been busy.

i will echo the OP.
I was gutted when i came out of that stadium but not 1 Wire fan taunted or goaded us in fact most of them were almost apologetic and sympathetic.

had a laugh with great bunches of fans from FC, Saints,Cas,Halifax etc and not one jot of bother or crossed words !

I must say you are putting footy fans into one bracket which is extremely unfair

east london smackheads do not represent 99% of football fans. with this in mindwould you want rugby league to expand into that area?

Ok Faxx,,,suppose it was still fresh from last week....But must say the banter yesterday was great and noticed when watching it on tv this morning that the fans were well mixed all around the ground, and i suppose in footy i don*t think that would happen...

If you want to chat with opposition fans in football it isn't very hard (just look for the ones that are friendly- they do exist)

Walter, the idea that football fans are bad-eggs is spread by the same people who say that your avatar is offensive on racial terms

Faxx,,,i used the WHU v Millwall game as it was an example of what can happen....and was just saying of how great the fans of this game are....I am not saying for one moment that ALL Footy fans are like this at all.....It seemed to me that last weeks "events at Upton Park seemed a bit like me to be pay back time,,,,(Blokes on the pitch wasn*t young kids)....Anyway lets not dwell on that. And i don*t see what could be offensive about the St George flag in England,,,after all we are in England are we not...?

I agree. The flag should be something we are allowed to wave proudly.

A friends dad who used to take me to school was a complete square and made it clear he was unimpressed at our england flag on display during a previous world cup, what a to$$er

Quote: Walter Neff "After all the trouble in the footy this week,(West Ham v Millwall),i have just got to say how fantastic the fans of all clubs were yesterday. Not only the 2 teams involved but all the other fans i had a banter with yesterday,,,Wigan Saints Leeds Hull KR,FC,Bramley, and many more, and a great time in the Green Man up the hill from the stadium...On days like these it really shows us what our game is all about.Great day all round yesterday...'"

Good to meet you Saturday and hope you take Andy up on his offer so you can see a bit more rugby league next season.

Or this if you fancy Cas away.
