| Watched the highlights on the SL show and have to agree that the officials missed two blatent forward passes. Both involved Hull KR and both resulted in trys to Hull KR.
Clearly Morgan is being misjudged, he actually is feeling sorry for Hudds and how they conceeded two trys unfairly

Which is precisely the system that is in place actually, and referees are a bit different to players if you havent noticed! Unfortunately we havent got a big pool of top referees in SL and I'm also unsure how a stint in the lower leagues would help?

| Quote: j_hunter_hkr "The point is, everyone you mentioned above is publicly accountable for their mistakes [iexcept[/i referees. Ben Thaler is shocking, and has been shocking refereeing everyone one of our games previous to this.'"
That's not really true.
The press & public will criticise players, coaches & officials alike.
But.... Put the boot on an other foot......
But if Karl Harrison had decided to criticise Daniel Anderson by saying [i"Anderson made a bone headed call by running that offensive play - he cost his team victory"[/i - there would be total uproar!!!
Or worse...
Ben Thaler came out in toomorrows press and said - [i"I was really unimpressed with Willi Talau's tackling. He had so many missed tackles that he clearly cost Salford the game"[/i
Thaler would probably never officiate an RL game again in his life!!!!!
It's not just Ref's that are protected from criticism, Players are protected from criticism and Coaches are protected from Criticism!

| Morgan wasnt complaining about Thaler when he incorrectly disallowed a last minute try for Saints last year that would have won the game.

And if a ref is consistently performing poortly, it's up to the controller of refs to take action, not individual club coaches.

Nothing wrong with a bit of assistance though.

Assistance? You think action could be taken now even in the highly unlikely scenario of Cummings agreeing with Morgan?

Simply because it wasn't a try, even Thaler couldn't pull that one out of the bag.

Can't remember what happened actually - was it the Saints player had knocked on, or the tackle had been completed before he offloaded? Either way I remember that it definitely wasn't a try.

The ref didn't win the game for Huddersfield, Huddersfield did. The ref didnt lose the game for Hull KR, Hull KR did why should the ref apologise?
The only recent incident I can remember where the ref has actually cost a team the game was in the Millennium Magic game when Leeds scored in the last minute, and guess what, the ref admitted he was wrong.'"
Because I’m sick of people acting as if ref’s aren’t human and don’t deserve criticism or ever make mistake when in SOME instances they do.
On these boards people complain about and criticise everything from players & coaches to politicians and society but yet when one person even mentions a ref got something wrong the pro ref brigade are out in full force defending them to a hilt. It’s laughable how refs are put on such a high pedestal by some people and anyone wanting an apology or explanation to a bad decision is accused of having a vendetta or of being a sore loser.
I’m not saying ref’s cost teams game but what I am saying tho is some big decisions need explaining imo and if the decision is wrong then an apology would defiantly help and would stop massive debates ragging on forums like this and provide some sort of closure.
Why is it big decisions aren’t explained by the refs and if they are wrong why would it be so hard to admit it? Refs are human and make mistakes but for some reason they don’t seem to want to admit it?

| Just as coach might protect an underperforming player, the RFL has to back its Refs if they are to retain their confidence. Poor refs should be 'rested', not 'punished', and that has to be decided by their line manager, not representatives of clubs (not directly at least). I like Morgan and I don't much care for Thaler, but if we won't have him, what is to stop Cas binning Ganson, Quins vetoing Bentham (as random examples) and so on until we can't put fixtures together?
Bad refs are like bad weather - it happens and there isn't much you can do about it. At least we got Thalered in a game everyone seems to acknowledge we'd have lost anyway.

Although what does explaining big decisions have to do with Morgan having a rant?
