Quote: Dougy "Just using home fans, Wigan get more fans than Latics. 75% of Latics crowds have 5,400 away fans. And against the Manc and scouse clubs its more like 6 or 7,000 cos away fans go in the home ends.'"
For the man united and liverpool games there is a lot more than that in the home ends. I get plenty of free tickets to go and watch latics and the south stand is normally a third full.
Latics don't really have that many 'fans' in reality. I could name so many people who -
Get free tickets game by game
Get a free season ticket from their job and don't go but get counted on the attendance
Buy a season ticket just to watch some premiership football, they don't support the team
Go just cause their mates go
Have jumped on the bandwagon over the last few years
Switched from another club, would you want 'fans' like this supporting your club
Them taking 78 fans to spurs says it all to me really. They have the worst away support in the premierleague.
We were bottom of the league and our attendances went up, we are loyal fans, they are the opposite.
They are many football fans in the town who are loyal fans to other surrounding clubs but I don't think that makes it a rugby town.
I work in starbucks in the town centre so I chat with a alot of people, I also hear alot of people talking throughout the day, I only ever hear about rugby. The last time I heard about football was the other week and it was to do with the pitch.
In conlusion and slightly off-topic from my own post, it's great to see some fantastic crowds this year, strong teams from warrington and wigan will do super league good not only for the product but for the amount of people they get through the gates.
Some clubs need to sort themselves out, expecially Bradford IMO and also quins. Salford will probably be out next time around anyway. I just think stadia is the key, look what it has done for all the teams with new stadiums. Cas and wakey would really kick on like warrington with a new stadium.
