5 seconds into his debut and he messes up.
He will be given about two more catches before he is shown the door if he does this again.

| I watched the game and felt bad for him after his fumble. He was probably very nervous and he is still learning the sport. Think they said in commentary that he'd only put pads on for the first time 5 weeks ago.
He picked himself up after his mistake and put in a couple of good runs. I think he caught the next punt but it had to be retaken.

Please stop commenting on a sport you know nothing about, it comes across as being obsessed, indeed if you don't like it why are you watching it???

| I'm in New York currently and was watching ESPN this morning and they referred to him as the ex rugby league player. He may have fumbled but I think he made 20 yards off 3 carries? Decent.

Yes, he recovered very well and made one run in particular that was impressive. The 49rs Coaching staff just dismissed the fumble as an inevitable moment that Hayne would learn from. To put it in perspective Reggie Bush fumbled the ball 10 times in his first 20 games.
Apart from his obvious athletic talents the American Football community and the 49rs Coaches have been blown away by Haynes emotional maturity which has allowed him to handle the massive media spotlight that's now on him and also take setbacks in his stride.

| he will struggle to do much this year behind Hyde who looked phenominal so to get in the 53 next year, every chance he does get he needs to do well with it.
He had a great pre season and did ok on the runs he had the other night. just a pity he fumbled that punt return. He will be back in it this weekend so lets hope he turns it around and takes one back for a TD.

| he'll certainly be getting the ball more at running back the way they've already got injuries, even RB got a tweak, it wouldn't surprise me that this season was his last hurrah.

| They just had Terry O'Connor on in the middle of the Wembley NFL game saying how good it is for RL and how much exposure it's giving RL that Hayne is playing American Football.

| I follow the Niners and all of the fans still refer to him as a "Rugby" player, so I'd argue League is getting little exposure as "Rugby" to Americans is the other code, not league. Still, its something!

| I think that RL fans have go this one wrong.
Yes, it's great for the player and it's a compliment o RL for one it's stars to make it in American Football but, we are massively
over playing the benefit's tour sport.
If Hayne is a major success, they will come looking and very likely poaching more of the games top players, which will weaken the talent pool.
This may give RL some publicity but there is no certainty of this and it may cause a few new people to be curious about the sport but, will it really advance the game of RL over the pond ?
Hayne going over there is more likely to increase interest from RL fans towards American Football than the other way round, in the same way that RL fans have taken an interest in Sam Burgess' progress playing Union (I don't think we've
been over run with Union converts since his code swap ??).
