But Roberts has the ability to play at full back or hooker. Chase is also on a contract that reflects the fact he was, and still is, a risk. We also don't know it will work fine as Roberts, Chase and Gale are yet to all play in the same game!
The three at Salford are out and out halves and I expect they will all be on good contracts.
Just to think - Salford could have a half back pairing of Sneyd and Fages if they had handled their promising players with a little more consideration.

As a saints fan, fages really is nothing special and a million miles away from the class of Sneyd or gale

Half backs sometimes take time to develop to their full potential. I think Fages will grow into a fine half over the next couple of years.

Always fun to see opposition fans making a point to play-down and ridicule a signing by a competing club. When the same people would be out of man size tissues if their club had signed the same player.

I know he's still young but I've said for a while that Fages is one of the most overrated players around. I've never seen what other people seem to see. You don't really expect a half of his age to be able to boss a game, but you want them to show signs and to have all the raw ingredients. For me his passing game is fairly average, his kicking is very poor, he is pretty tricky on his feet without being exceptionally quick or elusive, and he lacks size to boot (not the first thing you look for in a half admittedly, but in the modern game of ultra athletes you need him to at least be able to hold his own). An average bottom half of the table half back for me.

Or they could just think a serial offender who the NRL have banned is bad for the game. Perhaps all you can see, or want to see, is tribalism. Others may have different criteria.
