| My thoughts FWIW, Trent Merrin is one of the scuffiest players around the tackle/ruck/PTB that I have seen in a long time, his hands in, reefing, not releasing is going to see Leeds penalised lot's ! This went on quite a lot on Leeds defence !
Wire were superb *bar the 2 very stupid sin bins, both very much deserved*, talking of which, Wire put 8 points on Leeds with a man down & held them quite well again a man down 2nd half !
Ruck speed & pace returning the ball was excellent from Wire & their off load game was fantastic, Leeds couldn't live with it.
Too early to say how Leeds will go but I think they will build momentum & finish o.k. Konrad Hurrel was largely ineffective largely due to Wire ganging up on his carries & looked a bit plump around the middle, as does Trent Merrin.
Final thought, when asked about the Coaches h/t team talk, why did Angela Powers refer to Leeds Head Coach as Trent Barret ?

Angela is, as she always has been, obsessed with Trent Barrett's stunning good looks, and imagines that he has come back to the UK to marry her.

What actually worked in the Wires favour was that Leeds over hyped signings proved to be just that. Whilst Leeds equally over hyped young players again looked just that.
As far as I can see Walkers only real talent was to grossly over rate himself and dig his heals in for more cash and of all people Hetherington fell for it.
Early days I know and a not unexpected defeat but Leeds have a lot of work to because the score didn’t reflect the game imho as Warrington were far the better team.

Whilst a poor showing, it is just one game and away to one of the favourites. Rushing to judge Leeds’ new signings, let see how they’ve done after a dozen games

There's so much in the press regarding spouses of antipodean rugby players, that I very much doubt it. It was a poor piece of journalism not knowing the name of one of the coaches, though.

I'd give Angelina a bit more leeway for her calamitous interview technique if only she was a little bit tidier.

Maybe the Wakefield players started to believe the over hyping that SOME of their fans have been giving them.

| How is the Wakefield obsession remotely relevant to this topic? As an occasional visitor to the VT it does seem to be a significant feature. Can’t you keep it to a single thread?

no body is obsessed with Wakefield, but Vastman is obsessed with Leeds and wanting, willing, praying that Leeds not only fail but there expensive imports and there promising junior players fail aswell, whilst at the same time claiming Wakefield are top 4 contenders and are on some sort of phoenix from the ashes mission to be a real powerhouse, whilst Leeds are on a terminal decline on their way to being regular relegation battlers. Leeds loss at the title favorites on the first game of the season has somehow justified his prediction and Leeds season is now a right off.
so Wakefields loss at relegation certainties London and cannon fodder for a prospective top 4 contender is both Karma and hilarity for everyone on here.
