I think he is well liked here because he has a bit of a cult status. Most people only hear him a few times a year watching Origin etc, or over the top of 'big hits' reels on youtube etc and his funky Aussie voice is what we associate with the NRL. No doubt many Aussies hold Eddie and Stevo in the same regard. To them they symbolise Kangaroo tours etc. There are very few commentators in any sport who will be forever remembered for a particular piece of commentary in the way that Eddie will always be remembered for 'Wide to West'.

Stevo and Rabs have character, I'll take them over these boring generic modern commentators. Who cares if they make mistakes? They are symbolic, entertaining and like it or not have come to define their sports.

Ah the 2004 champions DVD was a joy to listen to!

I watch the NRL on Premier Sports for the Rugby League, not for the commentary. The commentary is an addition to the coverage. I could quite happily watch the match yet listen to the commentary on 2GB or ABC Grandstand, which I honestly much prefer to the TV commentary.

The best commentary team was Nine when it was lead by Voss & Gould. Incredibly knowledgeable pairing and knew how to call a game.

Because he's a bellend and a scourge on rugby league, and humanity in a general sense. A decidedly low human being who seems to enjoy bullying people and trying to ruin careers (Voss, Smith, etc)

He should be pulled from tv and radio and forced on some meds for his apparent psychopathy.
