| I'm not going as i cant get the time off, will be going next year though, had a great time last year, edinburgh is a beautiful city and the whiskey is excellent (shame about the beer). Been to cardiff as well and although i think cardiff has the better stadium and stadium location, edinburgh is a nicer place to visit.

| Going to be a massive flop this year I reckon. The games aren't exciting, the recession continues to bite, almost all the games are on SKY anyway and the weather is still unpredictable in Scotland in May.
I'd rather they ditched the magic weekend and stopped having 2 games at easter.

| i'll be going to a magic weekend for the first time and i can say im looking forward to it immensely
as for the games, well its 3 games of rugby league for the price of one so i'd say its cracking value for money plus its an excuse to visit a nice city too
as for the games not being exciting, well i think our game v wigan could be the best of the lot

Hope you get the job mate, ive had one today as well, one of many unfortunately,Wigan is rubbish for jobs at the mo.
Ive not been to a magic weekend yet,but would really like to.We went to Cardiff to watch the cup final between us and saints, and I was well impressed with the place, thought it could have been made for a weekend of rugby league, all the fans getting together and having the craic.Ive also been to Edinburgh a couple of times, and although it's a nice place I don't think it's as suited to a weekend of us lot as Cardiff is.And as has been said before ,south Wales is a rugby place, there is a lot more chance of picking up some local support from there than anywhere in Scotland.
Why does it have to be a pain in the to get there though?

I think the weekend needs to make as much (or more) than a home game for all clubs.
One of the main points of this weekend was that it brought in enough revenue to allow for a drop in fixtures (all clubs losing one home game). If that is no longer the case, will clubs want to go back to 28 rounds?!

| I assume I'm missing something with the magic weekend idea, but who exactly is it helping by being in Scotland? Or Wales for that matter (when it was there). It could be incredible for the Welsh now with a team there to support, but in Scotland, are any locals really going to take notice? No one to support, and a load of league fans all over the place to annoy them, don't see how it helps expansion at all. Meanwhile, all the league fans from everywhere else have to travel all that way, to watch a load of teams they could watch on tv anyway, don't see any real interest in watching a team you don't supprt, live (at least not enough to justify the journey). All seems very strange.

Last year several thousand locals bought tickets, building up a support base of rl fans will be vital for any expansion into scotland, the locals we met didnt seem annoyed they seem pretty happy we were there and to top it all of rl gets payed to take this event there, if we can get paid to promote expansion then why the hell wouldnt we. Though i didnt watch all the games live i went to most and really enjoyed it, especially when leeds played catalans, supporters from nearly every sl team sat with the impressive number of catalans fans and there was real party atmosphere, people were singing, dancing, there was even a brass band playing.
The main thing alot of people on this thread are missing (presumably because they havent been) is that its a fantatsic atmosphere with fans from all sl clubs (and a few championship clubs, if the haven, fev, barrow and dewsbury shirts we saw last year are anything to go by) to get together have a good time and sample a fantastic city.

It increases awareness of the game. No professional RL there before, now there is some for them to see and check out. You need to be aware that something exists before you can support it, and that's what this event is about.
Your point about not wanting to watch teams you don't support can't be held by the majority. How many thousand people go to watch NFL at Wembley every year for the sake of it being NFL rather than it being whichever team? Just one prominent example there.

Unlikley to get many Championship fans this year as the RFL have scheduled both Championship and Champioship one fitures that weekend
