| Looks dire for them. I've always liked Salford but they are really struggling now and it seems this move at best will see them on a nomadic journey like London, unable to lay down any proper roots and having the crowds dwindle. Would it be better for Salford to voluntarily drop into the Championship if that's the case, in order to make it easier for them financially?

A voluntary relegation won't be required. Luckily from a playing perspective we've been smart the past few years and not paid over the odds for players (like in the Marwan years). So we don't have sh*tloads of debt. If a move takes place there are a couple of options which will probably suit us for a few years until a longer term solution is available. There are lots of good things going on behind the scenes by the likes of Paul King, Ian Blease, Paul Rowley & the foundation.
The stadium is a bit of a millstone in the current scheme of things so potentailly this might be a blessing in disguise. As long as the club stays within the Salford boundary then we'll be fine.

Researching this it seems the move was simply for a better stadium and it was first proposed 2005 so not much to do with licensing at all, that came a few years later. No need to reply, just letting others know.....you were just having a cheap dig.....

YES - Their spokesman said going to Moor Lane would mean the club would have to go part time to make ends meet............Anyway there's clearly a list of clubs who would like to take their place.......
Produced just before the new season started.........Fev, Toulouse, Newcastle, york Bradford etc.....

Salford have been given the green light by the city council to go ahead with plans to build a new 20,000-seater stadium near the M62 motorway.
The Reds submitted plans for a £32m stadium, along with a hotel, shopping and leisure facilities, on a 30-hectare brown-field site near junction 11.
Now the council has given the plan its backing, the final say will rest with Government Office North West.Salford have been at their home The Willows for the last 100 years.[/i

I'm sorry if your upset about the clubs situation, Other fine clubs have also ended up the way Salford are sadly going, many fans of these clubs of course are very disappointed. I'll leave you alone....

Slim, you are defensive and your posting style is bordering on aggressive but calling someone out for failing to answer your question whilst failing to answer mine doesn't help your argument.
I'll ask you again, in what way do you think that the new stadium a millstone to your club?

Pretty simple.... it's too expensive for us to play there as the rent is high and we get nothing financially out of the stadium in return. ie, no match day revenue from food/drink sales etc.
We can't afford to play there = millstone. Not really that difficult to understand is it?
And nice to see you defending the trolls on here, shows just how far this site has fallen in the past few years.
