Adjusting the pay on contracts is what Wigan did in 2006 which produced a spectacular uproar from Cas fans despite not being against the actual rules at the same.
That being said, no issue at all with Cas de-registering Gale until healthy & being allowed to use the cap space on a replacement.

It’s pretty simple. His salary will only count on this season’s cap if he actually plays. If he’s deregistered and doesn’t play all season, his salary won’t count on the cap. Cas won’t be able to re-register him until 2020, unless of course he recoveres quickly and other players leave so Cas have room on the cap for him to be re-registered.
I don’t see the issue. The players who play for Cas this season won’t exceed the salary cap.'"
has it happened at Warrington and Leeds, can you prove this, i am not aware of it. If he is contracted player for 2019 which he is, and he gets injured in preseason then tough s##t. what the hell does it matter if he has played a game yet, he would be playing if not injured so he is on salary cap, unless they pay im of or release him for season.

because they go in to melt down if the two biggest cluns are deemed to get special treatment. remember when Cas got relegated and cried that Wigan cheated the cap, which they did, but Wigan where 3 places above Cas with Wakefield and Huddersfield above Cas. not like Wigan finished 1 point and one place above Cas was it.

his salary wont count if he doesnt play, but he will still pick up a wage though, yes? sorry, this is sport, unfortunate for the guy but as on another thread we've seen cas fans lording their back ups so no, you shouldnt get special treatment as you have a squad to utilise already!
can fc cover bowden n green until they are fit later in the season? they wont have played a game yet!
just opening up a minefield and should be turned down

I'd be interested to know that, or any club. What are the rules?

Of course he’ll still be paid, but he won’t play during the period of the 2019 salary cap so he won’t be counted on it. Similarly, if any club loses a player to injury who won’t play during the whole season then they shouldn’t count on that club’s cap either. So if FC know that Bowden and Green won’t play all season, I’m sure they would also be able to get their salary exempt from the cap. But assuming they will play during 2019, Hull won’t be applying for an exemption as they will actually play.
It’s not a minefield and it’s not the first time a club will have applied for an exemption for a player’s salary to be omitted from the cap if the player clearly isn’t going to actually play.
Amazing how far Cas have come though that other teams are having a hissy fit at the possibility that we might get a fair crack of the whip.

It happened for a different reason, but using the same principle. Both players were paid during a “salary cap season” but never appeared for the club in a competitive fixture. As such, their salary (including the money that had already been paid) was exempt from the cap. Same principle applies here, it’s just a different reason the player won’t play.

but it isnt if he isnt out all season now is it? even if he is able to play towards the end of the season the rfl are still considering allowing it.

if he is being paid a wage (regardless if he is out for the season) he counts on the cap! tough but thats sport!

Fair enough mate, cheers. I was just trying to think if there's been a case exactly the same as this, where a player gets hurt preseason and is out for the whole season.

Danny Addy for KR got injured in the friendly against FC and never played a competitive game in 2018.

| Think if the RFL were to allow Cas special dispensation due to Gales injury then it just opens up a can of worms and is the wrong way to go.
Injuries both short and long term are part of the sport and that is why clubs have a squad system. As unfortunate as it is for Gale & Cas for me its something they will have to take on the chin and work around.

Just a question as I am keen to understand, If his salary only counts if he actually plays in the season then why do the RFL operational rules state the opposite?
"A clubs Aggregate liability is calculated by adding together the respective Salary cap values of club`s players at the given time in question and then deducting any allowances or distentions permitted pursuant to these regulations:
A Clubs Players are:
"The 25 players registered with the Club who have the highest Salary cap values at the time in question, whether or not they have played for the club in a salary cap relevant match in the salary cap year to that date. "

I assume he’ll be deregistered for the year.

I agree with your first point. If he is exempt from the cap, he shouldn’t be allowed to play (unless of course other players leave an Cas can therefore bring him in under the cap). He shouldn’t be allowed to play if it takes Cas over the cap at the end of the season.
Your second point is flawed. There are many people at Cas, and every club, who are paid a wage but don’t count on the salary cap.
