So Wigan offered him a new 4 year deal (the 3rd highest they have offered in the last 10 years, bearing in mind his current contract is the highest) that he says he thought was actually more than he would get offered but he chose to go to Cats on a shorter but improved deal.
I don't think either Wigan or Tomkins have done anything wrong here and to be honest Cats have only done what others including ourselves must have done in the past i.e. Turned a players eye.
End of the day Tomkins has decided to go and Good luck to him for whatever the reasons behind his decision are, it's his decision not mine.'"

Yes
But that doesn't alter any of what I said as all of the above would have had to have been decided & agreed anyway even if they waited until after the deadline.
The only difference could have been if Tomkins had agreed to any new offer from Wigan prior to knowing about an offer from Catalans.
Then a possible transfer fee due to Wigan would have been due.
My response was to Brisbane Rhino who said that Wigan may have welched on an agreed deal with Tomkins

Not sure why Wigan fans are having such a waah waah about a quote I got from the BBC. Not following Tomkins particularly I couldn't care less whether the club backed out of an offer or not.
As for Wigan moaning about illegal approaches, please my aching sides. Wigan have never done that. Ever.

Next weekend should demonstrate why Catalans won't get relegated. There is Salford, Widnes, Hull KR and Huddersfield who are all more likely to go down.
Samuel Tomkins' place in Super League looks pretty secure to me.

On field he's clearly not the player he was. But off field he could be a huge positive influence, particularly if some of the rumours about poor culture are true.
