Why is a mod engaging in petty squabbles on the VT? Can you do it via IM (and keep the subject of those IM's between you this time), that'd be nice.

A moderator with a longstanding grudge I would add.

It's a grubby tactic, trying to obtain fans from your "competitors" back yard.
The first advert that I noticed was a Rhino advert on the outskirts of Bradford, which I thought was a cheap shot.
You would have thought that having 500,000 people in Leeds would be enough, obviously not
'"
Try 800,000.
But then again, Leeds do pull in a fair few fans from out of town and there's nothing wrong with trying to grow your brand. Other teams should just step up and try to do the same instead of being so insular.

| Quote Tigerade="Tigerade"Agreed WC. One possible explanation is that areas like ours with WF postcodes are seen as outskirt areas of Leeds. As the city grows bigger and bigger every year we are seeing lots of people new to the area who become possible new supporters - we have just got to get to them first. New stadiums for both WTW and Cas Tigers would also be an added incentive.'"
I think the Cas stadium may happen but, as for on at Wakefield, I will believe it only when sitting in the stand watching the first game.
At least Cas have the political will of the district in their favour, which means their stadium will get built

| Same here WC. I will only believe it when i'm at the first game there. Although i'm not too bothered if we don't move to Glasshoughton. I quite like the atmosphere down at Wheldon Road and we are in no rush to move immediately. I suppose owning out own ground is a luxury WTW do not have and paying rent is a bill that we don't have to worry about although the up-keep of an out-dated stadium can be expansive.

With Dewsbury perhaps, and financially no it doesn't make sense. I would go as far as saying it's financial suicide.

And where would we play? Wheldon Road? Belle Vue? Post Office Road?

Not very. Capacity of Belle Vue is currently reduced due to the bearing capacity of the crush barriers apparently falls short of the standard. Can't say I remember the last crowd surge at BV for this to be even an issue.

Isn't that Leeds Met Borough area. A bit like Wakefield has 335,000 pop, but places like Cas, Hemsworth and Knottingley wouldn't say they're from Wakey.
Other teams should try to do as much as they can, but Leeds have mostly done it off the back of years of success on the pitch. For example there were no Leeds shirts being worn by lads from Wakey in the 90's. Also imo it's nothing really do with being insular, we'd happily welcome fans like any Club, from anywhere they'd prepare to travel. For a team like Wakefield, we're hemmed in by other RL areas like Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Cas/Pontefract, so it's a hard sell. The only place where we've had a few supporters from is Barnsley. No doubt if Wakey had Leeds success in SL and population to match, they'd be taking fans from other areas too.
