| Unfortunately it was only a matter of time that something like this happened, with all the hate that social media breeds, it's a sad state of society.
I also think this stupid middle 8,s and MPG must be scrapped after this, as this is what we will see more of.

| Quote Willzay="Willzay"Funny you should say that, as there have been only "problems" when certain teams have turned up - e.g Cas, Widnes and your lot. There haven't been any "problems" with the rest, so wind your neck in.'"
When"our lot" turned up. Sorry you're right it's entirely our fault for turning up. If we had 't have you gone and stood in your ground (that's what was annoying wasn't it) you wouldn't have had anyone to aim racist chants at.
Good logic that
Sadly it just goes to show that there is no getting through to these "fans" of problem clubs. It's an engrained mentality.
Time the RFL got them out of the game. To do that make the two clubs from yesterday play in front of empty grounds.

| Nothing to see It could have been a lot worse and it wasn't which says a lot about the majority of the people attending. The people who got slapped were probably doing something to deserve it.

| Quote Bal="Bal"Agreed that the individuals should be banned, but the clubs have a responsibility for fan safely as well and should also see action taken. Some of the videos show some of the worst violence I've seen at an RL game from fans, and I watched in the 80s.'"
If you are basing that on the videos on the banter page that is a really big exaggeration.....bad as it looks. I'm sure there are other videos that look worse though.
I watched on TV and knew it was going wrong after the Salford try. There should have been stewards and/or police ready for that.
Most of the invaders were just stupid and brainless without being dangerous. But once on its too hard to manage and identify the real trouble causers
It's an offence to enter the pitch at all and that needs to be enforced.
It needs to be made clear that anyone going on the pitch will be arrested. It's impossible when there are hundreds on, you need to get the first ones to stop all the followers.
Stewarding should be better for such a high pressure game.

| When there are organised groups of thugs pre-arranging violence before and after matches, away fans having to be segregated and escorted into and out of stadiums for their own safety then Rugby League will have a problem.
As it is, however unwelcome those scenes are, they're few and far between. Mix young people, alcohol, the tribal nature of sport with high drama/passsion and if anything it's a surprise there isn't more trouble at games.
Just fine the clubs, ban the individuals and move on. The time to start worrying is if it becomes a week in, week out thing.

| stewarding and policing for a game like this needs far bigger focu and numbers. its obvious emotions will be running high and although we like to think ourselves a sport above this kind of thing, there are still a few tanked up idiots that will spoil it for everyone. see the GF in recent times for evidence.
Those using this as a basis to scrap the MPG need their heads testing, it was great drama one of the best games of the year that even got attention on radio 5 live interupting the Ryder cup.

| Having watched the video on here, I would have to say the vast majority of Salford fans were on the pitch to celebrate and it would appear a number of HKR fans seemed intent on creating a conflict. Had the HKR fans just stayed in the stands it would never have happened. There is no doubt a small number of Salford fans were getting involved, but if the HKR fans had just got themselves home there would have been nobody to fight with. I think the onus should be on home clubs to provide a strong deterrent to trouble makers, and if the current (cheapest) security firm is not up to it, then the host club should rightfully be punished. Stewards across the board couldn't really give a shyeeite as long as they go home with their £6.50 an hour. At the end of the day this type of contest is more than just a game, it could ultimately end up with livelihoods being lost and clubs possibly folding in the long term. With so much at stake and tensions running high, HKR were woefully inadequate as the host club.

| Quote shinymcshine="shinymcshine"That video just looks like a large number of people enjoying themselves (albeit shouldn't really be on the pitch) then just a few individuals having an occasional flare up, probably alcohol fueled, and no different to any Saturday night in any given town/city centre.'"
Had almost the entire contingent of Salford supporters celebrated from the stands as they should have, this would have all been avoided. The blame is entirely theirs for having no self control and then goading the opposition when all we wanted to do was cheer and applaud the efforts of our team even though they weren't good enough on the day.
The MPG is a manufactered game that was always going to have high emotions. The RFL have not recognised this (because they're short sighted idiots) and appear not to advise clubs on having extra security in case fans with zero will power bring the sport into disrespute (on both sides).

I agree, HKR being the host club should have had a lot more stewards and police on the ground for the worst scenario for such a big game. The RFL know HKR and Salford fans are potentially explosive in a highly charged situation, they should have set conditions to provide damage limitation.

Look mate, I would defy any teams fans to keep themselves off the pitch under such circumstances. If there was goading, it's not on, but you can't airbrush from history a small number of HKR fans going on the field to cause conflict. Your club was (like most) totally inadequate in the security stakes. I would say most people would have had a little worry in the back of their mind before this game, apart from it seems, the organisation at HKR.

What a shambles. 50 year old old blokes wobbling around a rugby pitch with kids sporadically fighting around them. Pathetic
