It wasn't a despicable incident. Ask Dave K. (Yes, he's a Hull fan).

| Sneyd is probably the most placid guy in rugby, never seen him show any violent or aggressive tendencies. Don't think it was intentional. McGuire made a break (no pun intended) and sneyd was playing catch up, caught him, tackled him and tried clinging to his lower leg to prevent a quick ptb which sadly has resulted in sneyd rolling McGuire's ankle. Hopefully McGuire will be okay but I don't think sneyd deserves the book thrown at him at all.

Obviously he's trying to slow down the PTB, every player would in that situation because he was the last defender and would've almost certainly been a try had McGuire managed to PTB.
Thing is though he could've prevented McGuire from PTB just by holding his foot whilst Sneyd stayed layed on his own stomach. For some reason (that maybe he can't even explain) he decided to roll over instead.
It might be out of character and pretty certain he didn't want to inflict a potentially serious injury on someone......on the one hand you say this is why he shouldn't be treated harshly. On the other hand you could say he could be treated harshly to send a message. If one of the games more "placid" guys can end up doing a ankle roll and seriously hurting someone then what might some of the less placid guys do if it's just a slap on a wrist he gets in terms of number of games.
One thing I think we've gotten wrong in RL is timid punishment for bad fouls. RU gives out big suspensions when someone messes up and I think we need to be harsher. You can't start sending players off at the first sign of a punch up like we do now because you don't want the image of fighting being shown as acceptable to a family sport when the worst result might be a black eye or cut but then not punishing stuff like this that ends up potentially with broken ankles or ligament damage.

| I personally think he clearly did it on purpose. I imagine he didn't do it to break someone anckle, but to slow the play down, but he knew what he was doing it was no accident. It depends on Mags injury. If it is broken that's the season over and at his age, might never get back properly. needs a very long ban if he has broke someone's anckle as the tackle wasn't a legitimate tackle

| The ban should reflect how long McGuire is out for, deliberate or not, perhaps if you end someone's season, your's should end too.

Agree 100% as soon as Sneyd roles he is 100% guilty. Nice or Thug at that point it's of no consequence. He is guilty.

| Going against the grain here but from the clip I saw there didn't look any malice at all and he was just trying to slow the ptb.
Unfortunate for DM, hope he recovers quickly.

| Saw it last night, didn't feel too bad , this morning still not too bad, he's tried to turn him over rather than crank the craps out of his ankle

Malice is completely irrelevant. Pro league players (even amateur players & species) know the potential outcome of that movement. When he roles we all know what can happen. He made the choice to do it. Maybe with or without intent. But that is no better than thinking finish his season. The minute he roles he is guilty.

That's a disgraceful point of view.

| Got to agree with Him and others who share his opinion, it's a disgraceful act to inflict on a fellow professional.
There's no place for that act on the field of play, I'd even question its legitimacy if I saw it in an Octagon during a UFC fight.
It's about time the RFL, NRL, RLIF acted to end these unsavoury techniques as crusher tackles, canonballing, alligator tackles, chicken wing etc are ruining the game and causing severe injuries. Best way to do this is to start issuing 12 & 16 week bans as we once saw in the 1980s!

| Only saw it this morning, looks bad for McGuire. Why was McGuire shown the yellow at the same time as Sneyd, has anyone said yet.
