Developers know that once a process goes past a certain point the council aren't going to pull the plug and risk the time and money that has already gone into it going to waste. They've got the council over a barrel, and if anyone does kick up a fuss they can be quite easily silenced with a brown envelope or two. It's naive to think it doesn't go on, the construction industry is bent as a nine bob note.'"
Nice analogy but in this case Wakefield Council didn't object even though they had warding that a mansion was to be built. |

You think people treat a new ground for Wakefield as a priority when you have to now pay for the dog wash at Pugneys?
Also for an alternative view isn't the new cold store creating jobs within the Wakefield district? That must be something a council looks for aswell. |

I would say both, but at the end of the day, the stadium was used as a carrot to get the development through.
New jobs created, more business rates for a cash strapped council, no stadium for the long suffering & dwindling Wakefield support, move along people... |
