| Quote SLS="SLS"Keith Senior couldn't do a single thing better than either of the other two mentioned.
He was a good centre but Newlove or Lyon !? No, I'm afraid not.'"
What utter nonsense. Just because a player didn't play for the "mighty" saints doesn't mean they can't have any ability. Your talking about a player who played over 350 SL games and yet averaged over a try every other game. You may also remember he won three SL titles in a row against a certain side.
He did plenty of things better than those players as they are three completely different centres.
He was undoubtedly quicker than either Newlove or Lyon and a better broken field runner. He may not have been as skillful as either but he's certainly in the top couple of SL centres. Senior also played (at a consistent level) in SL for *five* times as many seasons as Lyon.
Don't get me wrong Lyon is a fantastic player but this billing of him as some greatest ever SL player is just silly, its entirely biased by his performances in the NRL. Why don't we just rate Andrew Johns or Alfie Langer as SL's greatest players...
Also, senior could throw a better punch than either of the players

| Sorry I just can't take this thread seriously... 4 pages on SL's greatest centre and Stuart Littler hasn't had a mention?;)
I'm gonna p1ss a lot of West Yorkshire off here but I just never got the whole Senior thing, I just think it's a sad indictment of the dearth of quality centres in SL to be discussing Senior as a "great". Probably would have found 10 Aussie centres in the same period that were better than Senior. Not a wind up btw, I just think he was vastly overrated!

Senior was a stand out player in some very very good Leeds teams. Clearly that was just down to luck

| Joel Moon is OK, but there is rarely a game that goes by when I don't wish Leeds still had Keith Senior. Alright he wasn't Brad Godden, but he was Leeds second best centre of the past 20 years and has still not been adequately replaced.

| Senior was easily Leeds' best centre since Schofield, in fact at his best he was one of the best centres this country has ever produced. It's a shame more footage doesn't exist of the first 5 years of 21st century RL on YouTube because I think some people are forgetting just how good he was during that period. He was the best centre in the world for about 3 or 4 years. IIRC he was selected in the world XIII a few times as well.

He was a good player no doubt.
Those World XIII teams (he was picked three times) would have a lot more credibility if the Judges that decided the votes were clearly named.
They always seem to be a shadowy bunch of mainly English magazine editors with a handful of Australians that write articles in their magazines.
His tally of tries against the Aussies of 3 from 15 games is poor IMO

| To be fair, I wonder who *does* have a good tally of tries against the Aussies.

| Moon is one of the best centres in the league at the minute, which shows the regression in quality in that position.
Lyon was the best of a group including Gleeson, Senior, Ha'pe etc.
Sadly, Moon is up against Gelling, Turner and Shenton. Not the same kind of test

You missed off Sarginson the current England centre.
Could you also expand on the etc... cos i can't think of all that many great centres in SL throughout years TBH.

Indeed, you could say the very same about Lyon.
Paul Sykes, David Vaealiki and Gray Viane?
