They are quite clear on the rules, and it is much easier to interpret. If the man passing the ball is on the left shoulder of the dummy runner, and the man receiving is on the right, or vise versa on the on the left side of field, then it is not obstruction. As long as no player runs behind the runner.
They have applied that all season so far, and it is working. Last nights, especially the first, were not even close to pushing that ruling.'"
I'd agree with this. There's certainly a lot less farting about by the VRs as a result, they know exactly what they're looking for.

| No problem with either the ref or Leeds tactics - a great game and a great atmosphere.
Are Tigers slowly becoming the new Entertainers ? I have'nt seen a bad game or a bad performance yet this season.

| I really enjoyed the game.
As others have said, cas have been really impressive so far and last night they were bang at it again and, even though they were a bit tired going into the last 15 minutes, showed real pride in their defence and kept us at bay when i expected us to score a few more with the game gone.
A top 4 finish is a real possibility for Cas if this continues for the rest of the season.

Also the fact that players and coaches have become wise to the possibility of preventing a try by pretending to be obstructed, so they fling themselves at the attacking player, go down, then throw their arms up and appeal for obstruction; it's broadly similar to the pathetic spectacle of a peak conditioned strength athlete scrambling around like a new-born deer when getting back to his feet after a tackle, in an attempt to milk a penalty for interference.
So long as these things aren't dealt with, players will continue to be coached to do them; thank goodness for Ben Thaler, who will at least deride a player for milking by shouting "Gerrup and play the ball!" Next step should be to penalise of course, but it seems that the integrity of the rules have been sacrificed at the altar of maintaining 'the spectacle.'

| Losing Chase was the catalyst for Cas. Best thing that's happened to them, I reckon. They now have structure.
Chase is a cracking player, but only when he wants to be.

| silverwood had a pretty decent game and kept the penalty count down. The only exception was the lift and 5m carry of briscoe for a cas dropout. If silverwood didnt see it his touchy or in goal should have seen it. it was amateurish and infuriates teams when something so obvious is missed

What about the ward knock on in second half? Bounced of his chest and landed behind him (without ward moving forward, and from a stationary position), touchy stood in line with it 2 metres away said it was fine, silverwood stood 30 metres in front overruled and gave a knock on.
A quite ridiculous decision.

Pet peeve that, all teams are equally guilty. Attacking player, as he is getting up to play the ball leans forward into the marker then falls to the floor/struggles to play the ball, as if he is being interfered with.
It's good that refs are wise to this 90% of the time. ''gerrup, play on, milking it!''

I have no qualms with that being a knock on, he clearly failed to control the ball. Though, the grievance is that isn't currently how it's being interpreted. There was a very similar "knock on" by Wigan vs Saints (2nd half, after their last try I believe) which was given as play on.
Both are knock ons in my eyes, but currently neither (by interpretation) should be given.

It's not the man behind the player I'm questioning, though, I would point out that both Leeds tries were behind the man, exactly the same as Dorn versus Saints when his try was disallowed. So that was disallowed wrongly (costing us possibly the game), or Leeds were given wrongly (impacting on the outcome of the game possibly).
What I'm questioning is that twice Leeds ran into the line straight into a Cas player and affected his movement across. That's obstruction, regardless of what happens after. Had the Cas player moved towards the man then it would have been fine but Leeds just ran into him.

That's exactly what happened. It was a wrong read by the defender, simple as that.

Exacally both were correct calls. Shenton made poor defensive reads and stepped into the Leeds runner then attempted to kid the ref. correct call.
