| Quote GIANT DAZ="GIANT DAZ"Our away following was shocking and the form our players are in it certainly wont help seeing that hardly any (apart from 100 or so of us) of our 'supporters' could actually be bothered supporting the team !!.
But it was never going to be anything other than a shocking turnout as soon as the game was announced !'"
It's not great playing it on a Thursday night but ateotd it's an hour on the motorway. You can be home by not much later than 11 which shouldn't effect you working the next day. Like you say when the team are struggling on confidence a bit they need to see the supporters are behind them, and your following last night was a bit disappointing.

Yeah. I wish our support was that bad.

| Hull FC's average attendance is currently 10,221 which represents a 4.80% downturn on last season for the same fixtures when the average was 10,737. Last season their attendances held up pretty well and were only 1.73% down on 2012 when the total attendance figures for SL as a whole were down by 10.40%. I'm of the opinion that a successful Hull FC club would comfortably average in excess of 15K.

| Hull's crowds grew very rapidly between 2005 and 2009 so it doesn't much surprise me that a few years of mediocrity have burst the bubble a little. Over 10k is still not a bad average but I hope they can reach their 2009 level again some time in the future.

| You're missing another obvious drain on local finances - the team we share the stadium with is at Wembley over this coming weekend.
I'm certain some people who follow both clubs, and have limited finances, would see a trip to the big smoke as a distinctly preferable option to a Thursday night game against Huddersfield, a fixture which hasn't a history of thrilling entertainment in my experience.

14.5k in 2007 off the back of a grand final appearance in 2006 and silverware in 2005, and prior to the banking bubble going pop will remain a high water mark for a while, I fear. That was with two home SL derbies when they were still a novelty too. Hull is a decent-sized second-tier provincial city. It does well to support 3 professional 'football' teams as well as it does. I'm struggling to think of anywhere of a similar size that does... Bristol I suppose, with their City, their Rovers and the RU team. All struggling at the moment.
Hull KR, when we were averaging over 8k, worried about needing to add roughly the same number to the gate that we've now lost.
Edit - even in the RU premiership, where the fans are relatively economically cosseted (or so it is widely perceived) attendances peaked at an average of 13745 in 09-10 and have dropped steadily, down to 12175 this season.

What kind of percentage increase would that be?

agree, even though there looked to be less than that actually in the stadium, we were saying pre match how impressive hull's support is, considering they have only 1 major trophy to their name in 30 years, imagine if they had been succesful what crowds they would get.
also thought the noise was the best i've ever heard at the KC, (although outsung for the majority by the 80 giants fans )
for a thursday night and against a team with virtually no away support it was a good effort from hull fc!

speaking of which, got to the gate last night expecting to pay £20 as that is the price that was advertised on the official websites of both clubs to find the price was £24, i know it's "only £4" more but are clubs allowed to increase prices on the day without giving prior notice?
