| I'm pretty sure, though cannot say it is a FACT as others tend to, that some people have attended more than one game in the world cup.
We ought to check at the door how many games people are attending and adjust the attendance accordingly

| Quote Sadfish="Sadfish"No matter how you mess about both Cardiff games had the 40k plus figure and should be treated independantly.

I think it depends how they were charged for. If it cost double what you'd expect to pay for one game, there's justification in counting twice. If it cost the same as one ticket there's a lot less reason to count twice. Revenue-per-game is the measure that's of most practical use, although even there, it needs careful interpretation, because I'm fully supportive of discount tickets to attract audiences to 'minor' games. Revenue comes from many sources in the long term, and one thing that was essential for this tournament was to get the stadia full for the TV screens - and the newspaper pictures and reports - to get international RL taken seriously. That's been acheived quite well, certainly ahead of my expectations - the images of 2000 too seared on my brain. So far, I've read lots of positive reports in the press about 'sell out', 'big', 'passionate' crowds; attendances seem to have really neutralized the anti-League brigade. They'll still have a pop if the semi or the final aren't sold out - and TBH, not without justification - both really ought to sell out in the World Cup of the sport. Looks hopeful that they will.

| I was already going to a good number of games, but the weekends action has encouraged me to get to a few more.
Top notch entertainment so far.
Oh, and for the record i don't care if my attendance at Cardiff is counted once, twice, half, three quarters, 66.66% or not at all. One of the most pointless debates EVER.

| Have I stumbled on Geekfest?
At least when we argue over rugby it can be down to interpretation of the rules or opinion on what is good and bad.
Maths is constant. You can't change it by spinning it how you want.
Number of tickets sold is not the same as number of individual people attending the total number of games. No matter how much you argue, you are talking about two different things.
Let it go. I'm sure WoW won't just play itself guys.

By this logic are you saying none of the 45k attended any other world cup game, because if they did you will have to remember to make a reduction!

I'll be attending 6 games in this World Cup, do I only count once?
The ACTUAL FACTS are:
Australia 28-20 England - Millennium Stadium, Cardiff - 45,052
Wales 16-32 Italy - Millennium Stadium, Cardiff - 45,052
Papua New Guinea 8-9 France - MS3 Craven Park, Hull - 7,481
New Zealand 42-24 Samoa - Haliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington - 13,965
Fiji 32-14 Ireland - Spotland Stadium, Rochdale - 8,872
5 games.
Total attendance = 120,422
Average attendance = 24,084
It's very simple really.

| Personally, I would only count the MS attendance once rather than over two games. You can't exactly buy a ticket for just the one game. It's like saying the attendance for the Magic Weekend was 210,000.
When working out the average however, I wouldn't include the Wales game at all (or the England game, whichever way you prefer!). They were both part of the same event. It would be wrong to say 90,000 watched both and wrong to say 22,500 watched each. So just take one game out and class it as a single event.
So I'd go with the average being...
Eng vs Aus / Wal vs Ita - 45,052
PNG vs Fra - 7,481
NZ vs Sam - 14,965
Ire vs Fij - 8,872
Total - 76,370
Average (based on 4 events) - 19,093

| Quote Sadfish="Sadfish"You can't count it any other way though, it's pretty simple.
There is a big fixation with "attendances" at Rugby League, no one ever says at Athletics, hey look at the crowd, look at all the empty seats, and no one says, the crowd for the 100m is 3500, how can you count the same crowd for the high jump.
Get a grip.'"
Well said, how hard is it really to grasp the concept that 45k bought tickets to watch England v Australia and 45k bought tickets to watch Wales v Australia. It is irrelevant whether they're the same 45k people or not.
It's nothing to do with polishing a turd it's basic common sense.
