The first set of clubs doesn't exist, will never exist and would all fail if they ever did. I'm aware one already has failed and would do again. I'm also aware another exists, however it only exists as a SL standard club in the minds of a few deluded loons.

As for flatcappers, lets talk real ones - how about the actual flatcapper - Featherstone. A totally viable club and always was or Halifax or even Sheffield.

Better still why not keep a real SL club in and the only one in Manchester - support it short term as per Bradford and or the RFL find a saviour as per Wakefield - or is that simply too easy.

Wigan? They're the only club I can think of in Greater Manchester that deserve to be in SL.

Is this the REAL SL club in Manchester who have just called off the friendly with Leigh with 9 days notice after tickets and corporate had been on sale for weeks.

Salford are now dead as a club, lets hope the phoenix can rise again from C1 soon.

Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county NOT a city, schoolboy error. The City of Manchester is within Greater Manchester.

Hence Wigan is not in Manchester the city and never has been. Salford is a City in the County of Greater Manchester. However unlike the town of Wigan the City of Salford borders the city of Manchester. So though not actually in Manchester, Salford is by far the nearest RL club to Manchester's proper and de-facto is Manchester's RL team.

Yes actually, the club is very real - it's the business that isn't as was the case with Wakefield and Bradford.

Salford is not dead, as indeed Wakefield and Bradford were not dead - just the business that ran them.

The club and the business are not the same. The club lasts forever, however it cannot run without a business. A bit like a car without petrol, it's won't work but it's still a car - once petrol is found it runs again.

Why should Salford rise again in C1, Bradford and Wakefield didn't. If they can fulfil their opening fixtures and find a buyer even if going bust first then a SL place is theirs - why a different rule for them.

I'm all for Leigh or any other club getting a crack at SL, but not this way - not until Salford are pronounced dead by someone with more credibility than this forum could ever manage..
