| Quote Roofs="Roofs"Because usually if you start playing a sport at a young age it's because you are interested in it. Therefore if you become interested you usually want to go and support a local team. Therefore, with Fulcrubronquins being the only SL experiment in London you would expect any kid playing who wants to watch a live game to go watch FCBQ. So, if thousands of kids in the capital are playing RL (as we are told), wouldn't FCBQ's crowds have gone up even just a bit in recent years rather than down?'" No, there's absolutely no reason that kids playing RL in London would have any relation to the number of people watching the Harlequins club. The only reason kids support 'local clubs' is because their parents take them. If the kids playing in London have any interest in watching the game, which is unlikely, then they will probably support sides like Wigan or Brisbane. There's no reason at all that they would want to go and watch Harlequins.

That doesn't make any sense, because that's like saying most the kids playing RL in Hull will probably support Wigan or Brisbane, but I'd say that 8 times out of 10, if you see a kid wearing an RL shirt it's either Hull or Rovers.

'" Yeah, in a RL heartland such as Hull then the likelihood is that kids have been brought up on the game and been taken by their parents to watch the local teams since an early age. That's obviously not the case for kids in new areas, they have no reason to have any affiliation at all to Harlequins. You're also forgetting that compared to London, Hull is a very small place.

But surely overall that means then that Quins have a big advantage over the Hull clubs because they have more people to draw from, e.g. the amount of Australians living in the capital?

Quins still need to convince and show Australians and others spending money on live RL is attractive. Problem Quins have is marketing, there budgets are very small so they cant get the message out there. This is where the RFL should be stepping in!

Well from what Nige said tonight , I can see them taking a more ' hands on ' approach to Quins , they cannot afford for them to fail now

Urban myth 1: Australians are all 100% League nuts.
Regardless of what some idiots on here would like you to believe, RL is not the No 1 sport in 'stralia...most of the aussies in London own a wannabies shirt....the manager of the walkabout in the bush is an AFL fan.....there is little evidence that there are a load of anzac league fans in the capital.
I have said it many times.....when manly came to london for the WCC warm up there was a meet and greet arranged at the walkabout, the eagles and quins teams were there........30 people rolled up max an 20 of those were Quins RL fans.
It is a myth that all aussies are league mad......SoO Gets big figures on TV because it's a WEDNESDAY night......there is SFA all on the box to compete with.
Urban myth 2 : That all the kids playing RL in the capital MUST therefore attend QRL games. Roofs.....you got a bus to games when you were younger.......London is a tad larger than 'ull. There are many many thousands of kids playing the game in London and this is as a direct result of the london ESL club and the development PAID FOR BY DAVID HUGES.
Times up.......if the RFL don't take responsibility, then I see London folding, SKY pi55ing off and you roofs can get a bus to watch Wigans 100% professionals hammer HKA at a near derelict caravan park.......

| One last time ill say it. On what grounds are fax a better club right here, right now. Enough of your dodging. Is it the ground? Nope. Is it the youth sides? nope. Is it on attendances? Currently no, potentially maybe. Other than dire crowds Quins dont do an awful lot wrong and oh yeah, they've never finished bottom. Now quit yer jibber jabber and think before you type

Just make sure those crowds are a lot higher by the next time boyo, and that doesn't mean handing out an extra 2000 free tickets!

That would still make 2000 would'nt it?
