Something that often confuses people is why members of the LGBT community have 'Pride' or 'Like to tell people' but the fact it by telling people it removes stigma. A Gay child seeing a Pride march can help them understand that its ok just to be themselves and that they don't need to hide it any more and the exact same goes for a Gay sports personality, gay politician, gay celebrity. It does help people.
Unfortunately allot of Gay Hate Crime has happened this year, murders and attacks. Prop8 in California removed peoples rights and in Uganda the government have just made it illegal to be homosexual this year. On the 2nd Aug this year in Israel (One of the most gay friendly countries in the world) a gunman killed 2 teenage gay people and injured others whilst they were in a 'hidden support group for teens'.
Sorry for the rant but I applaud the guy for coming out in public, knowing that somewhere a teenage rugby union fan feels that its not actually a bad thing to be who he is.
