Defence wins you games.... Penny needs to improve and soon for the new season, a bit of bulk wouldnt go a miss either but not too much so he doesnt lose his pace.........

Penny could still turn out to be a "good'un" with the right coaching in the off season.
Sadly as he is at Warrington and Cullen is the coach this seems unlikely to happen

so he hasn't played leeds, and he didn't play saints in the cup and do a decent job?

If he was any good he would of left both Gidley and Wellens on there back sides watching him score a try in that Saints game.

He isn't as good as Calderwood. He may be on a par in the future, if he improves a lot.

I've got nothing against the guy and hope he does well, what I am against is the Warrington fans claiming he's the next Offiah and all the hype surrounding what is at the moment a distinctly below average player.

Penny has pace and balance and the ability to score tries even in the tightest spots, something you either have or you don't, the reason people liken him to offiah. He does seem reasonable in the air (i believe he had a bit of a mare last night under the bomb however) however his one on one tackling is very poor but that is something that can be improved and the lad has only played a handfull of games. Unfortunately for penny, times have changed since offiah's day as (generally) wingers are bigger these days.
He looks like he has the makings of o great 'old fashioned' winger, he'll need to be in a decent side that can protect him to allow him to show off his talents.

So what do you want from a winger???

At the moment you have your not too fast but solid, bulked up/good under the high ball type winger (Meli, Tupou etc)

Then theres the speedstars like Penny, White , Gardner etc.

Totally different types of player they all have weaknesses.

He has pace and balance, but otherwise is a rag doll at the moment. He needs a lot of coaching to make him a decent player.

Returning the ball he is rubbish as well, due to his lack of size. He was thrown around like a rag doll last night by Saints backs, and was invariably dragged back for negative yards.

In three years time he may be a world beater, but I suspect he will suffer the fate of Richie Barnett, who was found out then binned.

Worryingly for Penny, Warrington is not the place were he will pick up good habits. The coaching regime there is poor, with few youngsters brought on in recent years.

Yeah he should go to saints as they are the only team in the country who can nurture any talent to its full potential
