| Quote: Leaguefan "The clubs themselves haven't a clue about marketing. If they did then attendances would be considerably more than they are now and interest countrywide would be larger. However the, my club ,sod everyone else, lets not develop the game, thanks for the money, attitude shown by the elitist clubs of soooperdoooper league has done the game no favours at all.
This latest spit the dummy out fiasco really shows that they are utterly clueless and are just incapable of seeing the bigger picture.
Well good luck to them. I hope they get what they deserve.
In the mean time the NRL will flourish and just think that RU cannot believe their luck . RU was elitist which is why the Northern Union came about. It seems have swung the other way.
Keep the blinkers on SL, one day they may come into fashion.'"
So your in favour of licensing then
The split won't work as has been pointed out many times. It's the worst of licensing and P/R put together. Championship clubs won't stand a chance of promotion and we will get the top 8 every year.
What si ths bigger picture you see and how (most importantly) are you going it finance it?

I assume you think turkeys would vote for Christmas as well.
BTW this isn't a dig at the clubs mentioned I'm just saying that I cannot see clubs looking down the barrel of 2 clubs being relegated in 2014 going for it if this is the REAL issue here.

| Judging by their actions it would seem that 'the 6' aren't convinced of the strength of their arguments themselves........

| Well kick the six out, let them foxtrot oscar to union, promote Fax, Fev, Leigh and Sheffield to SL and spread the sky money into SL2 to help promote the game, of which SL2 clubs must spend half on marketing.

''The six clubs blocked a decision on the format of Super League from 2015 on the basis that any debate on change should only take place alongside a review of the competition’s commercial management and governance.''
There is the key to all this for those insisting otherwise. It's not about P&R or restructuring it's about the incompetent RFL board thinking they will change the structure and everything else will be fine.'" Exactly what I've been saying.
It's crystal clear what this is about.
It isn't about being self serving over monies or about the number of teams in SL it's about the RFL been very poor at their jobs and them being brought to task over it.

| So these are the 6.
Catalan Dragons,
Huddersfield,
Hull,
Hull KR,
Warrington
Wigan
Interesting to see that although St. Helens were originally linked with Wigan, we were not the type to walk out on a meeting.
I'd say take the vote without them. If they abstain by walking out, then they have cast their vote.
Quite simply they are not even in a majority of SL clubs.
Catalan Dragons,
Huddersfield,
Hull,
Hull KR,
Warrington
Wigan
So one big club and some hangers on.

| Quote: RhinoNeil "Very childish from the clubs that walked out. When reading that I was praying Leeds were not on the toddler list.
These people are meant to be rebuilding our game and yet some of them cannot act in a civil manor. The RFL do need telling that they are not doing a good enough job commercially and there is questions on the way the game is being governed, but one step at a time. Sit down like adults and get a structure in place then raise these other issues and address them in the correct manor.'"
On the surface, it does look childish, but there may be a valid reason behind it. Surely there can't be too much doubt that the governance of the game is not as good as it could be, and the clubs are right to be concerned about it. Inevitably, it's not something the RFL want to talk about, so the concerned clubs need to force the issue. Walking out presumably meant the meeting was no longer quorate so a vote on the restructuring - which seems to be the only game in town and does nothing to address the real problems facing the sport at the moment - couldn't be taken. Preventing a vote on the RFL's pet (in fact [ionly[/i) project is an attempt to force the governance problem onto the agenda.
Well, that's how I read it.

The way I read it is that they were likely to lose the vote and so rather than concede to the majority they have taken their ball home.

The vote on what though? Presumably the restructure because the issue of governance doesn't appear to have been on the agenda. Walking out isn't a sign they are against the restructure, but a sign that they're trying to force the RFL to talk about governance. Possibly.

Yep, the vote was supposed to take place at a council meeting, but was put back till after the WC, but it seems the RFL have tried to ' force the issue ' by having a vote at a SL only meeting, quite possibly without prior knowledge of the clubs
Meethinks they want Mr Wood out
