I am a great believer in democracy, but Hudds would have still lost out in a democratic vote taken at the ground on Sunday. The reason being, there were more Saints fans there.

Quote: BackrowSaint "I heard both Nigel Wood and Steve Ganson had a direct line into Phil Bentham's earpiece and told him not to give it.'"

I heard that Hetherington was also involved in the conference call to Bentham in not wanting the drop goal to be given. He's still cheesed off that Leeds were knocked out by Hudds last year (they had a player sent off in that game too) and he wanted to remove the possibility of a repeat in 2014. "I'd much wather we were wewarded with a dwaw against St Helens so do not award that dwop goal to Bwoughy" he allegedly scweamed.

he only posted that there were some suggested protests on the hudds board, which is true, he didn't specify how many or how few hudds fans wanted to participate.

But don't let reading comprehension get in the way of your attempt to try and make your fans seem less idiotic and ted.

May I refer to the original post that started this thread

Feckwits indeed.

Immediately after the game on Sunday, the vote at the ground was...
It was a drop goal Since the Paintshop Pro & Crayons Kid got involved?
It was a drop goal = All 52 Huddersfield fans
It wasn't a drop goal = 52 others who still care either way
Don't care/Just slit my wrists instead = 1,546,223

FlexWheeler does a pretty good job of summing it up above. Touchy much, that your club and fans have had a sh*tfit over what has turned out to be nothing and made themselves look silly?

Huddersfield's main mistake was concentrating too much on the DG and completely ignoring the penalty that Saints received for dropping the ball on the 5th tackle.

Quote: ThePrinter "Have you read some of the suggested planned protests on the Hudds board to stick it to the RFL?
Protesting at Hull this week, protesting at Magic weekend, even.....wouldn't it be great if the team beat the record of most DG's in a match to show them buggers at the RFL!'"

to be fair, that was one poster who got shot down by most of us a non starter, most of us who prefer to put our energy and voices into supporting the team on thursday ( there will be a few of us there!)

i admire his sentiments though and do agree that if the wider RL public who are concerned about the standard of officiating in the game got together to voice their displeasure it could make the governing body listen to the fans,
as for protesting about last sunday, then i, like many others , did not want any part of it, again, fair play to him for wanting to air his grievances but it wouldn't have done us, as supporters or as a club any good at all.

the crowd was 5,566 of which 1,799 were st helens fans, good numbers( most you've brought for a few years) and very vocal but definately not more icon_thumb.gif

Maybe I'm alone in this but I don't think the standard of reffing is that bad. Refs make good calls and bad calls, and that's the way it's been since the game was invented, and, unless one day the game is reffed by robots, that's how it will always be. It is very rare that I come away from a game thinking the ref has spoiled the game, or cost my team the win. If you care about it so much then get your ar5e down to a refereeing course and have a go yourself. Protests and petitions are not only ridiculous but will achieve nothing.

But no other sport has bad referring.......

I agree, I think the refs are actually fairly decent.

The problem is the fans who love to complain about anything and everything. Even when their views are obviously wrong or biased, however, a large part of it is ignorance on the fans part which is large. If more people got themselves on a refereeing course or coaching course they may actually understand the rules properly and realise that the refs aren't all that bad.

Of course they get some calls wrong, some big ones too, but if anybody has ever tried refereeing a RL game (which I'm sure 99% of the moaners haven't) they would realise how hard it is. On the whole I think the refs do a good job but Rugby League fans just love to moan and be negative at every turn, nothing like a victim complex eh?

Player passes ball, hands facing backwards, ball drifts clearly forward in mid air......... cue clueless fans ''FORWARDDDDDDD, BOOOOOOOOOO, THE REFS BENT, ITS THE RFL, THEY LOVE THE BIG 4, BLAH BLAH BLAH''.

You go on any board after a defeat, and you can guarantee they'll be a thread kicking off about the ref.

Except London broncos board that is........it's hard to blame the ref when your average loss is down to shipping 50 points a game!
